By the way, if the Democrats were gone, we'd be in an oligarchy with greed running everywhere. That's happening in Russia right now and look what has happened so far. There system has worked so badly that a lot of their military equipment is junk. A country their size with their natural resources should dwarf the USA and it can't. Be careful what you wish for. You might just get it and end up like Yevgeny Prigozhin. That's how bullies leading government respect their followers. That isn't an isolated incident in Russia either. Their history has had a lot of those kinds of things happening. Don't go too far to the right politically either and be blind sided.

We need at least a two party system of both progressives and conservatives along with a large number of us independents to be the great country that we are. Our country leads the rest of the world in every way. That's why so many people want to come and live here under our system of government and controlled capitalism. There is opportunity for everyone in our great country. There is also the religious freedom in our country which isn't the case in other countries of the world. We place the highest value on human life of anywhere in the world. There are many oligarchies which were led by strong men that have perished in the past. That's not what to wish for. Our country also recognizes the fact that the way a person looks and their heritage has nothing to do with their value. We all have different God given talents and need to respect that.

Let's be the adults in the room and stop with the name calling and let's stop believing in the conspiracy theories. After all there are only facts and not alternate facts. Alternate facts is just another name for lies.

By the way EmilyD, Socialism is where The State Owns The Means of Production. I learned that over sixty years ago when I wrote a term paper on communism. Communism is merely forced socialism. It had at it's heart the thought of "Each to his ability, each to his needs" which came out of Karl Marx's Communist Manifesto. That's contrary to human thought. If you supply someone everything that they need, why would they do more than the bare minimum to get by? Today communism has just manifested itself into an oligarchy where a strong man is at the top dominating all under him. Socialism itself doesn't work. Both it and communism destroy initiative. Neither works well. The term Socialism is frequently used incorrectly. Those who use it incorrectly might just as well use the word Woke. Both are Conspiracy Theories and are just nonsense.

What you fail to realize is that the vacuum would be filled by another new 2nd party anyway but hopefully it wouldn't be as far left as the demonrats are nowadays. We don't need a marxist, totalitarian, anti-liberty, anti-American party like the demoneats have become. When you get sent to prison because of a meme opposing Hitlery's viciousness in trying to take Trump down, you know the dem party is naziesque. You might want to seriously analyze why you are a demorat.

Big Kahuna you need to revise your assumption above. In China, Russia, North Korea, Belarus and other countries there is only one political party that is allowed. That's what would happen here too which would eliminate your so called vacuum. Strong men (bullies) are scared of opposition so they don't allow it. Putin has demonstrated his fear which was seen on the news lately where he sat at one end of a very long table and had those he was meeting with all at the other end. And rightly so. He remembers how Khrushchev took power. When Stalin died their was a Troika that ruled Russia consisting of Khrushchev, Beria (head of the secret police) and Trotsky. The three were sitting around a round table. Khrushchev pulled out a revolver and blew Beria's brains out. Trotsky immediately abdicated and called Khrushchev the boss. Putin also remembers how Stalin died from rat poison being put in his food by Khrushchev and others who attended one of Stalin's middle of the night dinner parties. History is loaded with former systems like that which are nonexistent today like the Roman empire, the Aztec empire, the Mayan empire and several others. They just don't work because they destroy individual initiative and suppressed people eventually rebel against them. We are seeing some of this type rebellion occurring today. Most recently in Brazil and Poland. Like I said, we need at least two parties here, one that is progressive and one that is conservative with no cheating to get and maintain power like gerrymandering.
