In Texas, A Murderous Governor

Little-known fact: A leading cause of death in Texas is Gov. Greg Abbott.
Yes, by intentional actions and deliberate inactions, Abbott has used his gubernatorial policies to kill thousands of Texans, including: his calculated refusal to extend Medicaid to millions of poor Texans (including nearly a million children)… his intentional denial of water breaks for outdoor workers broiling under this year’s 100-plus-degree heat dome… his lethal deregulation of utilities causing the state power grid to collapse for days in the deep freeze of 2021 with hundreds dying for lack of heat and water… his shameful prioritizing of gun extremism over the lives of school children... and his despicable grandstanding stunts at the Mexican border, killing untold hundreds of migrant families by design.

These people are not dying accidentally, but are victims of Abbot’s premeditated policies and political ambition. Consider his silly scheme of throwing $9.5 BILLION of Texas taxpayers’ money into the ditch of his highly-ballyhooed border-security PR show. Grandiosely branded “Operation Lone Star,” it has posed Generalissimo Abbott as a right-wing border hero.

Some hero. He has stretched miles of razor wire underwater in the Rio Grande, slashing the flesh of migrant families and trapping babies and pregnant women in the coils. And Abbott’s state troopers have been commanded to shove exhausted and injured refugees back into the river toward Mexico. As one appalled trooper says: “We have stepped over a line into the inhumane.”

This willful cruelty is immoral, but it’s made ridiculous by the fact that Abbott’s militaristic power play has totally failed to deter migration. After all, these families are fleeing for their lives and future, so he can wrap all of Texas in razor wire, and they will still come… and find a way in.

I am a lifelong Texan. Geo is lying. He/she well knows that the laws and changes he quotes did no such things. Geo is a Democrat shill through and through, and accepts anything sourced from the DNC as written by the Hand of God.
The one about water breaks, for example. There is NOTHING in the new regulations that keeps workers from having adequate breaks for restrooms, rest, or water. NOTHING! All it does is stops CITY governments from imposing their own mandatory breaks on businesses located in their cities. The national company I once worked for had a policy of two coffee breaks per day, and restroom or water breaks as needed. Anything else required supervisor approval. But some cities (Democrat ones highly influenced by unions, of course) decided to require many more breaks for many more reasons. The new law keeps the cities from playing politics and trying to micromanage company policies.
There is NOTHING in it that prevents workers from getting adequate water and rest breaks.
Geo is a deliberate liar.

You’ll also know them by their words. Zealots tend to write insipid articles like this one. Yes the right has them too

Murderous…okay lets talk about the 2000 innocent lives snuffed out every day for convenience.

I don't believe geo is lying. The Post is commentary from Jim Hightower a well known Democratic commentator I follow and have read many of his books. So the liar is not geo. I enjoy reading the works of Mr. Hightower. He is in my opinion just like Hannity, Tucker and other conservative commentators only from the liberal/populist side. Another pundit I like is James Carville. So to each their own.

Each side makes up their own reality. Well known or not is irrelevant.

Read the law, LA, and make up your own mind. When I first read about it in the Houston Chronicle, it was phrased very much like what Geo posted. I was aghast at such insanity! So I looked and read the new regulations. You should do the same. You will see that Geo is wrong at the least. He may be lying, or he may be taking the word of a Democrat who is lying.
