QAnon and other hard right wing conspiracists have been taking over local and state level political election positions, they take control of cities and counties as well as state level election positions and they bring chaos to jobs that take boring but competent government managers...people who actually have jobs they do that the right wing whackos don't have a clue about.
The republican party depends on a strong and wealthy donor support group, which then depends on an incredibly well organized and focused election strategy that understands how to get the biggest and best bang for the buck.
You start replacing boring people that are good at their jobs with exciting and patriotic "we the people's" that hate government and believe it should be destroyed and there won't be a republican faction of the government left.
