Carlos Moreno, a scientist and business professor at Sorbonne University in Paris, is facing conspiracy theories and death threats for his urban planning concept. Moreno's idea, called the 15-minute city, is that everyday destinations such as schools, stores and offices should be only a short walk or bike ride away from home. A group of nearly 100 mayors worldwide embraced it as a way to help recover from the pandemic. In recent weeks, the proposal has been hit with a deluge of rumors that 15-minute cities were a precursor to "climate change lockdowns" - urban "prison camps" in which residents' movements would be surveilled and heavily restricted. Driven in part by climate change deniers and backers of the QAnon conspiracy theory, these false claims have circulated online, at protests and even in government hearings. Moreno faced harassment in online forums and over email. He was accused without evidence of being an agent of an invisible totalitarian world government. He was likened to criminals and dictators. For the first time in his career, Moreno, and even his family, started receiving death threats. Like many of his academic peers who have faced harassment and disinformation campaigns, he is at a loss for ways to protect himself. Why do we put up with these terrorists? Track them down and arrest them.

Gee, censoring us isn't enough anymore. Sure glad I have several rifles and pistols and plenty of ammo for all of them. They never go hungry as long as I can afford to feed them. I always take good care of my pets and you always love one or two the best. I can't afford to feed a fully automatic. Which is why I'm such a good shot. I hate to miss and I'm thrifty. I even pick up my brass. I also have a couple of lasers, which help me cheat, but I seldom miss with their help. Especially, after dark. I would have made a good sniper in my younger days. With all this new gear. COVID really spoiled you. Sorry about that, but we sane adults no longer trust you around our children or friends' children in my case. So, you want us all to be arrested for thought crimes now? Yep, you're still a control freak and crybaby. See if you and Guru can go to a shrink together. Together, you might add up to one functional adult.
