Also with well placed Republican governorships.

When it was instituted the population was nearly 3 Million.
Problems then were unseeable at that time.
Travel was by horse and buggy.
Weather notwithstanding.
No computers , telephones , or even running water.
The college was there to collect the late votes from the farthest reaching states.

The Majority is the consensus of more than less.
They are doing exactly what the consensus of the Majority wants .
This , by the way is the purpose of voting.
Gaining a consensus of how to govern this country. Employing the zeitgeist of the Majority.
The right , continues to be Against everything the majority wants .
