Common sense is not to question what gender you are and not to try to change it!!!

During my career as a firefighter, I learned just how mean metals can be when they get hot.

I worked in heavy industry and I also observed metal fail under heat and physical stress. The failure of the smallest part can be catastrophic. I saw metal conveyors and traveling grates where one part jumped of the metal track, and you have a smash up because the rest just follow the lead right off the track. This train was going much faster than the systems I saw smash up, so it was far worse.

There was proof a car might be coming but the child ignored it. His denial that there was no proof does not negate that truth.Your analogy had nothing to do with the train derailment. Here is a better one. Mother tells child to look both ways and he steps into the street and is hit on top of the head by a object dropped from.an airplane. There is no connection between looking both ways and the child being injured. No connection between brake system and train wreck.

Had nothing to do with brakes---Wheel Bearing--The Government made the RR workers go back to work-their strike was for more time to repair broke equipment --instead of enforcing it back on line??

You don’t know that.

An adequate braking system might have prevented such an incident.

If not, rail companies need to come up with solutions that will prevent future derailments caused by equipment failures.

As was typical for the Obama Administration, the concern for public safety led to a regulation that mandates upgraded braking systems on trains carrying toxic material. They basically said, "ya know... these trains currently rely on old-style braking systems that were designed in the 1860's and the problem is that they requires pneumatic pressure to be pushed all the way from the front to the back and that means the the cars in the front start braking before the cars in the rear. Since Obama got smart people to think about these things, it came up that these old braking systems are at risk of causing derailments.

They were also aware of a new, modern type of braking system called ECP (Electronically Controlled Pneumatic) brakes where electronic controls insure all cars a braking at the same time. They're expensive so they decided not to force railroad companies to upgrade ALL their trains but that they SHOULD upgrade the trains used for carrying toxic material, because a derailed train carrying toxic material could be a severe risk to public health and safety.

But then Trump came along and he had different ideas. Trump doesn't know anything about trains, and unlike Obama, he wasn't into having a bunch of experts looking out for problems. What Trump *did* know is that his base LOVES it when he rolls back regulations. Apparently, that's a thing. Just hating regulations, whether they make sense or not.

"Look Melania... Every time I get rid of a regulation, I get likes!"

So, Trump rolled back the mandate on ECP brakes to the cheers of the railroad companies that didn't want to spend the money and the MAGA folks who saw it as one more example of Trump undoing the evil of Obama.

Fast forward to 2023 and sure enough, a train using the Civil War era brakes and carrying a LOT of toxic material derailed in East Palestine, OH. Toxic material ALL over the place! This was exactly what the Obama Administration was trying to avoid and now the toxic material is getting to the local water sources. Not sure if that makes much difference because Trump also rolled back all the clean water acts since the 70s',

But hey... Trump DID show up on the scene with pallets of his very own Trump Water. Or should I say, water from an existing supplier distributed in bottles with Trump labels on them. Nice one Donny.
As was typical for the Obama Administration, the c... (show quote)

I wager the chairman of the NTSB is more knowledgeable than are you.

NTSB Chair Jennifer Homendy says the brake rule Buttigieg and Joy Behar blamed President Trump for repealing ‘would not have prevented’ the East Palestine derailment.

“The wheel bearing failed on car number 23. So even with ECP brakes, the derailment would have occurred.”

— Trump War Room (@TrumpWarRoom) February 24, 2023

Also, Homendy tweeted that requirements for ECP brakes only would have been in effect for “high hazard flammable trains” and that the East Palestine train had mixed freight and only three cars placarded as containing flammable liquids.

The ECP braking rule would’ve applied ONLY to HIGH HAZARD FLAMMABLE TRAINS. The train that derailed in East Palestine was a MIXED FREIGHT TRAIN containing only 3 placarded Class 3 flammable liquids cars.

An adequate knowledge, which the chairman of the NTSB has, would benefit you.

ETs. That’s the answer. Electric trains. They won’t be able to pull more than 2 loaded cars @ 12 mph top speed. That would greatly minimize freak accidents. Let’s do it! Think about all of the mining jobs created.

I do know that. It has already been reviewed and that is the conclusion. Your obsession with blaming Trump will not alter facts.

Please go to page 2 of this topic and read the discussion between myself and Mr. straightUp. We debated this question of whether the braking system had any causation on the derailment. I believe I made a very strong case that it did not.
