GM is smart enough to know that EVs are not a viable economic or environmental alternative to gas powered engines and never will be. Resources and infrastructure are not there to produce and maintain a fleet of EVs. The goal is not to replace gas engines with EVs. The political goal is to eliminate all private cars and the freedom of mobility that goes with it to anyone but the very wealthy. John Kerry said it plainly with the statement about private jets, “the only choice for somebody like me who is traveling the world.” That same statement will no doubt also apply to private cars in their elitist progressive future. Everyone else will be financially locked away in the cities and restricted to public transportation.
