Don't be so quick to judge I was a CNA for 12 years and didn't have to go to school for it was trained in the nursing home facility but later was required to be tested to certify at a tech school. Went to tech school for LPN for 15 months but if you want a nursing RN you have to have 2 yrs of college for an associate's and 4 years for BSN then you can specialize or keep going and become a physician assistant. X-Ray techs or computer specialists for more in-depth in computer go to some place like deVry there are many tech degrees where if you go beyond tech education then college is required have noticed of late some tech schools have changed over to say their college now

How many years ago was that? Each State has their own certification processes. Last time I went for physical therapy, the PT said education requirements were changing and now you have to earn a doctorate degree in physical therapy.

I received my license in 91 but have worked continuously since. My granddaughter is going for 2 yr RN . As for therapy, I imagine it's like the RN program there is a lot more in-depth learning needed in skeletal and muscles and the injuries or disease process if not done properly can cause serious problems. I live in Georgia and yes most states have their own laws and rules such as I have been a med pass nurse for over 30 years my patient load is during day shift is 25 to 30 at night I would be responsible for the whole floor on one unit (45) my job is to see to the safety and continuing care of all patients give meds as ordered do wound tx supervisor of CNA working the floor on night shift we had to take turns being over house supervisor which means if another floor has a problem with a patient you need to go to that floor and access that patient and advise that floor nurse what's the best thing to do. None of this includes the paperwork. In Texas when I was there their nursing program doesn't teach nurses to pass meds which in my opinion is bad they have med techs who work under the nurse license so if the tech makes a mistake the nurse ends up holding the bag as they say sh*t runs down hill . Just my opinion

Many go to nursing schools; sometimes a hybrid of vocational/technical schools and colleges. Some go to college. some go to specialize vocational/technical schools. You're missing the whole point of the article because you're too busy arguing insignificant issues. The point is, if you watched the video you would know this, college is expensive and many come away with crushing debt, many are not suited for college, and we also need people who can actually do things. Granted that apprenticeships may be long for some professions. Becoming a doctor isn't exactly a short route. You want to argue for the sake of arguing. Give it a rest. Good and bad points have been made on both sides. No side is perfect but one has to decide the best route for themself. What is it about a person having the freedom to choose for themself the direction in which to want to take their life that you find so objectionable?

Please understand - I was not 'judging' CNA - I was on myself for 2+ years. I then worked with and hired/supervised CNA's for many years. The fulfill a very critical role in health care.

Your misunderstanding something, but I don't know what. This hasn't anything to do with "sides". I agree that trade schools are a great alternative to a useless college degree (ie philosophy, african studies, art). I said in most instances, a college education (ie 2 or 4 yr) may be rewired for some employment in the health field. In my state, a minimum of 2 yrs is retired for nursing. Maybe it's different where you live and it was certainly different years ago.

Here is what you posted earlier: For some things, a college education is a necessity (ie medical field, engineering).

Now you are saying may be rewired (required?) for some employment in the health field.

So there is no 'misunderstanding' at all; there is simply a failure on your part to accurately communicate whatever you are trying to say.

Not for one misspelled word - simply pointing out She/He/IT changes tune when challenged with facts.
