They want nationhood not statehood. Its the demorats that want them as a state. Now you just guess why.

Mostly, as a state they would add two senate seats. Bam.

I would like to see DC as the 51st state. They are American citizens living there and they don't have the right to vote. This is not right. DC has more citizens than either Vermont or Wyoming. As far as Purto Rico, I like that too, but I feel they must vote on admission.

What makes you think they don't vote?

I really think the demorat party should be outlawed. It is a party only interested in power and control.

Because they are of no benefit to America, other than Dems needing ignorant voters to keep the power they have.

Alot of dem voters see the corrupt ship starting to list to the right.

I doubt Porta Rico will be gun-ho on Dems apparent back when I don't remember the year Clintons raised all kinds of money and made promises to help rebuild areas after a really bad either earthquake or storm those people never saw that money or any help

DC residents do have the right to vote, they don't have representation just like Puerto Rico. If you don't recognize PR as a state then the US should stop taxing them. That's why America left England, taxation without representation .

The US should stop taxing those who live in Washington DC as they have no representation.

It's all political all right, Mitch McConnell doesn't want them recognized as a state because he fears their representatives would be Democrats. That's the only reason they don't have statehood, Republicans think it's ok to tax people who don't have representation in Washington.

PigW, try reading the Constitution. The Distinct of Columbia was instituted in the Constitution to be the Nation's capital and remain a District. A Constitutional ammendment is required to change the status of DC. Showing your ignorance again.

Exactly, Dems know making that dependant nation a state with the liberal cradle to grave freebies will have their votes.

They are debt riddled and produce more little riccans than anything else, Porto Reeko will be another huge drain and will immediately call for trillions of dollars by the Dems to support and bail out.... While we wave the debt owed to America.

Just watch, more money, more freeloaders and tax dollars pissed away by with zero accountability..... Democrat MO

It seems that the people of Puerto Rico want to have their own sovereignty, but the politicos at the top there want the $$$ from the US that statehood would bring them. We gave up the Philippines territory in 1946.
