Because they are of no benefit to America, other than Dems needing ignorant voters to keep the power they have.

Alot of dem voters see the corrupt ship starting to list to the right.

EVERYTHING dems think about or do is about politics; it’s never about or for the people.

I was under the belief that Puerto Rico DOES NOT wish to become a State of the Union. If this is true, then why are these people in power forcing this malaise onto these people? It is only a grab of power and they are ONLY DOING THIS NOW because they see their power dwindling and are hoping that grasping at this straw will save them.

First question: Do the citizens of PR want statehood?

As I understand it, they have to petition Congress.

I thought that Puerto Ricans wanted nationhood, not statehood.

I would like to see DC as the 51st state. They are American citizens living there and they don't have the right to vote. This is not right. DC has more citizens than either Vermont or Wyoming. As far as Purto Rico, I like that too, but I feel they must vote on admission.

The U.S. Constitution (Article 1, Section 8, Clause 17) instructed that the seat of government be a “District (not exceeding ten miles square)” over which Congress would “exercise exclusive legislation.” James Madison spelled out the reason for the arrangement, explaining that maintaining an isolated district would prevent any state from holding too much power by being home to the national government.
