Outrageous: Combat Troops to Receive Pink Slips While Deployed Overseas- Daniel Doherty

Some members of the armed services, all of whom are currently deployed in war zones, will soon be notified by the Defense Department that they will be involuntarily discharged from the military at the end of their current tours. Why? “Budget cuts.” It’s as simple as that. Shockingly, too, hundreds of Army captains have already been handed the devastating news, according to the New York Post, and more officers are expected to get it, if they haven't already, soon enough.

For obvious reasons, this is an outrageous and heartless way to “thank” combat veterans:

What is astonishing is that the Defense Department thought it would be appropriate to notify deployed soldiers — men and women risking their lives daily in combat zones — that they’ll be laid off after their current deployment.
As one Army wife posted on MilitaryFamily.org, “On some level I knew the drawdowns were inevitable, but I guess I never expected to be simultaneously worried about a deployment to Afghanistan and a pink slip because my husband’s service is no longer needed.”

Awful. To put things in perspective, the government wasted some $100 billion last year alone on frivolous expenditures, and yet it can’t even wait long enough to lay off combat veterans until they’re out of harm’s way? The author describes the Defense Department’s handling of this situation as a “stunning act of callousness.” True. But I’d go a step further, and say its actions are a stunning act of cowardice. This is no way to treat American combat veterans.

And yet, as we’ve seen with the unfolding VA scandal, and now this, combat veterans are often forgotten and mistreated by the same government that purports to represent them. It’s not fair and it’s not right, and Congress should be doing everything in its power to ensure these men and women are taken care of after they retire. Right?

So we're cutting off veterans while spending more on refugees. So smart of these educated people running our country. This is just sick.

This administration is doing everything it can to screw the very people who risk, and willingly give their lives and limbs for our freedom. It is sickening!!
As for the "refugees." They are NOT "refugees." They are invaders infected with all kinds of diseases being spread nationwide. Many are gang members affiliated with the most brutal drug cartels. There are people from Yemen. syria, and afghanistan being caught, and released on our border. This is an invasion perpetrated by our government.

Hello there to everyone.

IT IS NOT about the fact there is a draw down in our troop strength. It is about about the time and place soldiers are being notified.

I get that. Why? Why? Would they do it that way?

Is obama & co. trying to break the spirit of our military? Looks that way.

It is my perception, yes. In fact, although, it may be a totally an outlandish thought, by breaking the spirit, many may leave at the end of their obligation. If troop strength declines, you will, again, hear talk of allowing illegal immigrants be allowed to gain citizenship through enlisting with the military. The excuse for allowing such will be troop strength decline. It will be overlooked that it was the President and his Secretary of Defense who created such a morale issue that soldiers declined to reenlist.

I have been called a conspiracy theorist by more then one. Follow me here.

1. Do not enforce immigration laws, knowing you will have a deluge of people.

2. Pass immigration reform in the Senate with a no go in the House.

3. Announce shortly, thereafter, a reduction in troop strength.

4. The suggestion comes that a path for citizenship for beneficiaries of the Dream Act is to serve in our military, although....ding...ding...ding, we are reducing troop strength.

5. Item number 4, listed above, is a no go.

6. Link slips for no continuation of service for troops are issues while they are in a war zone. Morale falls!

7. Troops who were in pink slipped are demoralized and do not reenlist.

8. The subject of Dream Act individuals gaining citizenship, through volunteering for military service, is brought up again.

9. Some other major conflict occurs. We need troops. We do not have sufficient numbers.

10. Dream Act recipients, magically, are allowed to enlist, to increase troop strength! and ...viola....become citizens.

Did I miss anything?

This is wrong on so many levels, yes it is an act of cowardice and very disrespectful. If that's how the suits feel about vets then get your scurvy asses out there next time you need a fight fought. These morons just sent a message loud and clear. Try fielding a fighting force next time you need one and see how far you get. People won't forget what you've done here. Both sides of the isle eat shit!!!!!!

And then they have an army of grateful puppets willing to draw down on citizens in case of martial law!

So Obama is building his military out of homosexuals, lesbians, transgenders, and bisexuals plus Muslims and Hispanics. He may some problems if he goes to war with America. The Muslims won't understand the Hispanics and LGBT crowd will only want to have sex with all of the new guys. This hardly sounds like a sound idea to crush America. Remember those pink slipped military and retired military most likely have weapons and know how to use them. This ragtag group will still have to fight the best military in the world even if they are retired.
