President Xi Jinping hasn’t addressed the protests, and those close to the administration expect China to follow strict COVID-19 guidelines until more citizens get vaccinated. This will not end the protest.
Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian mentioned the COVID-19 death toll in the United States. and said the U.S. “is in no position to point fingers at China’s COVID response,” per The Associated Press. This is also not helpful.
Xi Jinping is still president, and the people want him to step down. The protests will continue.
