How is this different than any other form of electioneering? All political advertisements could be considered 'ephemeral' because it disappears after election day, no? Does Google not have the right, like all of us (corporations are people too, remember?), to advertise their favorite issues or candidates? Google is no different than any other corporation or trade association that backs their preferred causes and candidates.

This isn't shocking, nor is it election interference. It is what it is....
