Obituary of the United States

In 1887 Alexander Tyler, a Scottish history professor at the
University of Edinburgh, had this to say about the fall of the
Athenian Republic some 2,000 years prior: "A democracy is always
temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a permanent
form of government. A democracy will continue to exist up until
the time that voters discover that they can vote themselves generous
gifts from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority
always votes for the candidates who promise the most benefits from
the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally
collapse over loose fiscal policy, (which is) always followed by a
Dictatorship.

The average age of the world's greatest civilizations from the

beginning of history, has been about 200 years. During those 200
years, these nations always progressed through the following sequence:

From bondage to spiritual faith;
From spiritual faith to great courage;
From courage to liberty;
From liberty to abundance;
From abundance to complacency;
From complacency to apathy;
From apathy to dependence;
From dependence back into bondage."

The Obituary follows:

Born 1776, Died 2012

Professor Joseph Olson of Hamline University School of Law in
St. Paul, Minnesota, points out some interesting facts concerning
the last Presidential election:

Number of States won by:

Obama: 19 Romney: 29
Square miles of land won by:

Obama: 580,000 Romney: 2,427,000
Population of counties won by:

Obama: 127 million Romney: 143 million
Murder rate per 100,000 residents in counties won by:

Obama: 13.2 Romney: 2.1

Professor Olson adds: "In aggregate, the map of the territory
Romney won was mostly the land owned by the taxpaying citizens of the country.

Obama territory mostly encompassed those citizens living in low
income tenements and living off various forms of government
welfare."

Olson believes the United States is now somewhere between the
"complacency and apathy" phase of Professor Tyler's definition of
democracy, with some forty percent of the nation's population
already having reached the "governmental dependency" phase.

If Congress grants amnesty and citizenship to twenty million

criminal invaders called Illegal’s - and they vote - then we can say
goodbye to the USA in fewer than five years.

If you are in favor of this, then by all means, delete this message.

If you are not, then pass this along to help everyone realize just how
much is at stake, knowing that apathy is the greatest danger to our Freedom.

These last two presidential elections prove that indeed some voters have figured out how to vote for whoever will pass out the freebies.

And the vote recipients are well aware of that fact.

Sad that even though those who feed at the public trough will lose, yet they drive the policies that will insure their slavery

Very true. The left desires to have hand outs...when the best hand out anyone could have ever had, would have been a job.

The Bail outs...really are loans against taxpayers repaying our Government back what Barry lavished on businesses and god knows what else he has "gifted" at our expense.

A mush better delay plan for things to really get worse, he could have given all citizens a check....we could have paid off homes we owed money on...which could have put off bankruptcy of Fannie Mae...and we could have purchased new cars with it....making a difference for the financially failing GM, at the time...but instead...it was actually just wasted...but we all owe this debt....a debt that will probably not ever be paid off....

Thank you Obama and your vile little minions....for taking the US down the drain economically....

Interesting and very informative article. In order for America to turn around we need someone in the White House that is proud of America and what it stands for; someone who is not a politician but believes in America and our constitution; someone with Judeo-Christian principles who will defend them and not bend to political correctness. That man is Dr. Ben Carson, author of "America the Beautiful" and "One Nation" and many others. I challenge everyone to read these two books.

I was told this even when I was a small child by family member's and in school(1940's - 1960's) and so maybe this is why I knew how to vote for independence and living free. Not perfect but free.

Old_Gringo,

"...the best handout would be a job" No argument there. If only I could find one. I was forced to "resign" from my teaching position of 20 years for a state college. Our "esteemed" governor, Rick Scott of Florida, bled all state educational entities dry of state funding. He also delegitimized tenure - which I had achieved 15 years prior to my "retirement."

I lost my career only 4 years before I was due to receive my full state pension, so I only receive 50% of what I worked for. I was replaced by an instructor fresh out of grad school, and she was only offered a yearly contract. This way, the employee never knows if he will be working the next year, and by the time they find out, it is too late to get more than a part-time teaching load.

This is the way of the future. At 60, I have not been able to land a full time teaching position - I'm too old and too expensive. So now I struggle on $1,165.00 a month from my State Retirement System. In South Florida that does not go far. And were it not for "Obamacare", I would not have any health insurance either.

I hate to rub it in, but it was not Obama who started the bail out debacle, and he is only partly responsible for spending trillions of dollars and wasting American's lives on two unwinnable foreign wars. He is not blameless, not at all. But let's look at the big picture here: Congress, especially the House, has done and continues to block ANY effort by the president to move our country forward. If there is anyone responsible for the demise of this country it is the legions of greedy polititians, corporations, and just plain immoral people. Not Obama,but the greedy and envious are the ones to blame. They are not so easy to pin down, though, are they?
