How perthitic can one group of people become..

trying to market the rumored words of a 12 year old must be near the ridiculous limit even for people such as the right wingers..

If you people, even as a group ever came up with any thing of merit and/or ethics you could get normal people to at least give a listen.. but no,,, that must be far beyond anything you are capable of..

I've just finished reading 10 pages of comments and I haven't seen a word written about what I consider a basic point. Forget for a moment the need of many to characterize the shooter as MAGA or a "demoncrat", etc. That doesn't get to the root of the problem.

I'm assuming the shooter has (1) mental issues (it's even more horrible if he doesn't). And he (2) "learned", from the internet and/or elsewhere, about how dangerous certain peoples (Blacks, Jews and immigrants) were. And (3) he decided to do something about it.

There are several points at which this tragedy could have been prevented. (1) we as a country don't do enough regarding mental health issues. Pro-gun people often raise the mental health point when there's a mass shooting and often it's a relevant point. But I don’t see them agitating for more funding.

As for (3), society failed again to enforce the current laws that would have prevented gun sales to him. We've seen this omission in other cases. Human error. This can be reduced by better training but probably not eliminated.

(2) this is one place where we can do a lot to break the causal chain. It is simple: don't allow social media to provide a platform for hate speech. The First Amendment only affects government action. And even
under the First Amendment certain speech is not protected. Private companies are free to deny use of their platforms to hate speech. And they should, as a matter of social responsibility.
