Hillary Clinton appears to be off the hook in terms of special counsel John Durham's criminal inquiry, according to one House Judiciary Committee Republican.
In the view of Rep. Darrell Issa, the politically charged review into the origins and conduct of the Russia investigation has taken too long for there to be full accountability. He specifically name-dropped Clinton, whose 2016 presidential campaign and lawyers helped foster the specter of collusion between her rival, former President Donald Trump, and the Kremlin, as evidence has shown in the years of investigations that have followed.
"'Justice delayed is justice denied' is not some sort of a trite statement. It's very true," Issa told journalist Sharyl Attkisson in a recent interview for her Full Measure program.
Issa, a California Republican who is part of the judiciary panel that oversees the Justice Department, then looked ahead to what is expected to be a report released by Durham, whenever the prosecutor finishes his investigation — an endpoint that could be months away.
"Anything that comes out of the Durham report," Issa said before stopping to scoff and shake his head. "It could lynch Hillary Clinton, and it wouldn't change a thing."
The congressman bemoaned how even if the truth is reached eventually, at some point, the opportunity to bring people to justice would reach its expiration date.
"The fact is, time has passed. It is pretty irrelevant, except it's a lesson to Congress that putting real-time limits and putting real meat in activities, including inspector general's reports and so on, is more important than ever. The time it takes to complete an investigation, or the time it takes for Congress to get to the truth, impacts whether or not you're going to get the truth and compliance in a timely fashion. If you can hold an administration accountable in real time, they will cooperate. If they know they can run out the clock, as they often do, they won't," Issa said.
Durham was first tasked with looking for criminal mischief associated with the Russia investigation in April 2019 by then-Attorney General William Barr. That means it has been nearly three years since the review began, and it has lasted longer than Robert Mueller's special counsel investigation, which was unable to establish a criminal conspiracy between Trump's 2016 campaign and Russia.
Two prosecutions are playing out in Durham's investigation.
Michael Sussmann, a Democratic cybersecurity lawyer, was indicted last year for allegedly concealing his clients, including Hillary Clinton's 2016 presidential campaign, from the FBI in September 2016 when he shared debunked claims of a secret back channel between the Trump Organization and Russia’s Alfa Bank. Igor Danchenko, a U.S.-based and Russia-born researcher, was charged with five counts of making false statements to the FBI about the information he provided to British ex-spy Christopher Steele for his discredited anti-Trump dossier, research that received funding from Clinton's campaign and the Democratic National Committee. Both defendants have pleaded not guilty.
Durham also obtained a guilty plea from former FBI lawyer Kevin Clinesmith, who admitted to altering fraudulently an email about a Trump campaign aide under government surveillance.
Clinton, a former secretary of state who remains a force within the Democratic Party, spent part of last month denouncing media coverage of allegations arising from Durham's investigation while also pointing out conflicts that are dogging Trump. “They’ve been coming after me again lately, you might’ve noticed. It’s funny — the more trouble that Trump gets into, the wilder the charges and conspiracy theories about me seem to get," she said during a speech at the New York State Democratic Convention.

So if Jeffrey Dahmer was never caught for at least seventeen murder/mutilation/cannibalism, and today walked into a Milwaulkee precinct-house with a box of tapes, a list of where bodies [ what was left of them] were, and willing to talk freely about his crimes, he should be sent home ? Where do we draw the line ? fjb

Regardless of the statute of limitations on murder, the comparison of Dahmer and the Hildebeast is shockingly similar.

Mrs. Clinton likely has murdered numerous people (had them murdered) and has participated in cannibalism, sodomy and God only knows what else. Nonetheless, corruption, sadism, rape, etc. are more-or-less average behavior for the Clintons and many of their contemporary political elites.

This being said, move along. Nothing to see here. The media in this country functions like a “state sanctioned propaganda outlet”…..nothing more. The two-tiered justice system is functioning EXACTLY as they’ve planned.

Whew!! Talk about Freudian... I just plucked Dahmer out of the [sadly] long list of criminals in the mental files. Good observation, Steve... fjb
