I don't know, I just thought it was an interesting story so I posted it thinking others on OPP might find it interesting.

I agree 100%. We gotta do what we gotta do. We have done it before and we can do it again. Freedom is what we stand for and this would be a righteous battle.

I remember a short video clip of John Kennedy walking out of a meeting with the joint chefs of staff at the time of the Cuban missile crisis. All of the military were trying to convince Kennedy to invade Cuba. As Kennedy walked out of the meeting he could be heard saying " you people are all crazy".
And now we have people doing the same thing the military advocated for the Ukraine that Kennedy said was crazy.

So ask yourself was JFK right that war is no longer something that mankind can afford.

I dislike what is going on in the Ukraine but it is of no strategic value to either NATO or the US unless the crazies in the US and EU are doing it to further provoke Russia which could end up in a all out war.
In this situation Might don't make Right and there are no winners. The exchange of nuclear weapons will instantly wipe out millions of people and bring on a nuclear winter which will wipe the remaining survivors through fall out and kill off almost all vegetation. ie no food.

No... It doesn't...

Deterrence isn't guaranteed and won't stop nukes launched from submarines...

We should also be praying that China hasn't made it's tech available to Russia... They currently have an interview orbital missile that can circle the globe and strike from space...At speeds that can't be intercepted....

I heard it was reported China has giving some of their supersonic missiles to the Russian. Can't verify though.

I haven't heard that...

Perhaps...But they're usually pretty niggardly with their top tech...

Does this come on the heels of this???

US officials confirm Russia has used hypersonic missiles against Ukraine
From CNN's Natasha Bertrand, Jim Sciutto and Barbara Starr
US officials confirmed to CNN that Russia launched hypersonic missiles against Ukraine last week, the first known use of such missiles in combat. The US was able to track the launches in real time, the sources said.

The launches were likely intended to test the weapons and send a message to the West about Russian capabilities, multiple sources told CNN.

Russia's Ministry of Defence said Saturday that it had launched hypersonic Kinzhal missiles against a military ammunitions warehouse in western Ukraine on Friday, destroying the structure in the Ukrainian village of Delyatin. CNN is unable to independently verify this claim.

Traveling at Mach 5 speed or faster, hypersonic weapons are difficult to detect, posing a challenge to missile defense systems. Hypersonic missiles can travel at a far lower trajectory than high-arcing ballistic missiles, which can be easily detectable. Hypersonics can also maneuver and evade missile defense systems.

The Pentagon has made developing hypersonic weapons one of its top priorities, particularly as China and Russia are working to develop their own versions.

I picked that up when checking out “Kinzhal missiles “ but can't yet see it as all true on the heels of China hypersonic missiles either.. A trade secret is of course just that when Collaboration efforts to distraction or overthrow of another country are involved…. One would be an idiot not to at least consider such anyway… Just a bit not coincidental from my liking.

I understand that… I also understand Indias test just done as well… none of it coincidental… With other countries having them as well… Its the newest fad, supersonic this n that?? No, I think not.. Its just the newest show of who has them… Of course the smart ones don’t advertise what they have or have not…Anything coincidental to Russia and India testing now??? I think not..

India successfully tested the accuracy of an extended-range BrahMos supersonic cruise missile launched from the stealth destroyer Indian Navy Ship (INS) Chennai, said an official statement on Saturday.

“The missile hit its intended target with pinpoint accuracy after traversing an extended range trajectory and performing complex maneuvers,” said the Indian Navy statement.

“Both Brahmos missile and INS Chennai are indigenously built and highlight the cutting-edge of Indian missile and ship-building prowess. They reinforce the Indian Navy's contribution towards the Atma Nirbhar Bharat (self-reliant India) and Make in India endeavors,” it added.

“This achievement establishes the Indian Navy's ability to strike even deeper and influence land operations further away from the sea, when and where required,” it added.

The BrahMos supersonic cruise missiles can be launched from submarines, ships, aircraft or land.

The missile was developed as part of a joint venture between DRDO and Russia’s NPO Mashinostroyeniya initiated in 1998.

The independent Congressional Research Service (CRS), in a latest report this week, said that although the US, Russia and China possess the most advanced hypersonic weapons programmes, a number of other countries, including Australia, India, France, Germany and Japan, are also developing hypersonic weapons technology...
