This is according to the Ukraine Deputy Defense Minister Hanna Malyar. Who said this Friday that:

Russian forces have lost 2,800 service members since the start of the invasion. Furthermore, she added that Russia also lost 80 tanks, 516 armored combat vehicles, 10 aircraft and seven helicopters.” We are strong!” she wrote on Facebook. “Victory will be ours!”

I believe the Russians are finding fighting on so many different fronts much more difficult than planned. They also underestimated the Ukrainian peoples will to be free from Russian rule. Putin has not yet proceeded with a devastating bombing campaign which he could. IMO, not out of compassion, but because if he takes the Ukraine in that manner then he would spend billions building infrastructure. I've also read many of the Russian troops hearts are not in this fight for various reasons.

You have it right. What's the point of Russia owning a bombed out country ? The way he is going, he may win, but what has he won ? He is wearing out his army and their equipment, which he will have to replace. He will have to repair all of the destroyed infrastructure of Ukraine, and he will have a hostile population to control.

It's like conquering the Moon. Yea it's nice to look at, but you can't do much with it.

If our chicken shit President and allies would sanction Russian energy and guarantee the Ukraine never enter NATO this fight would end shortly IMO. Both sides could walk away saying they have won.

Why should Russia be rewarded ? I would retroactively declare Ukraine a NATO member. If you reward bad behavior, you get more of the same. It all depends whether Putin stays in a burned out, bombed out Ukraine when he is done. If he does, he has a wasteland. If he leaves NATO should go in and rebuild their new NATO partner.

Weakness gets rewarded with more crap. Russia needs to be smacked on the nose with a rolled up newspaper.

We’ll disagree here. The Ukraine is not necessary for a strong NATO and we would actually be handing Putin the very excuse for aggression that we have been saying isn’t there.

Putin’s biggest problem won’t be “taking” the Ukraine. It would be holding it. A land as big as Texas with 40+ million, who don’t want ruled by Moscow would be a royal pain in the butt.

Subject: Russia

Interesting

This is a very interesting take on the current situation in Ukraine from a friend that is Russian (currently a US citizen living in Texas). I have not seen anything close to this in the US or international press.

Certainly. Happy to give you my opinion and prospective. There are 2 key issues:
1) Basically Russia recognized the independence of Lugansk and Donetsk Republics (which have been historically 99% Russian populated for centuries). Those 2 basically never recognized the new Ukrainian government that came to power as a result of the coup (which of course was sponsored by our tax payer $$$). So then in 2014-2015 Ukrainian military and neo fascists (Ukrainian gov supports) started attacking them. Finally as a result of Minsk treaty the conflict deescalated , but not really. They don’t show it here but Ukrainian military has been bombing and killing civilians in Eastern Ukraine for 7 years now. So now Ukrainian military been brewing and getting ready to attack those 2 territories so Vladimir is basically not going to tolerate any more genocide. So now since Russian recognizes them as sovereign places (step 1) they will be willing to help if requested which includes military assistance. Honestly the sooner Russian military moves in those Republics (step 2) the better it will be because less people would die. Most of civilians have been evacuating from there for the past week. And then step 3 - if people of those republics hold a vote to join Russia - then the borders will be established and no one will mess with them
2. What Vladimir and Russia wants and been asking for ever is guarantees that Ukraine would never get accepted to NATO. Because if it does, then they will get balsy and attack Russia and what is Russia supposed to do then - fight NATO? Nobody wants that. The issue is that when Soviet Union collapsed and one of the pre-requisites was that Russia was promised that NATO won’t expand to the East even by an inch. But unfortunately the exact opposite has happened, almost 15 or so new counties in Eastern Europe joined NATO and not only that but they now have military bases with missiles there which is a direct threat to Russia. If they establish bases in Ukraine that means that ballistic missiles can each Moscow in 5 min - no bueno. The example I try to use is imagine you got a neighbor that got tons of guns and explosives that he loves to fire off on his property but always reassures you - “don’t worry I won’t ever fire at you or your kids”. You probably won’t feel safe no matter the promises. Basically Putin is tired of the west ignoring his ask and only having negotiations that benefit one party.

I think the time for worrying about giving Vlad Putin an excuse for aggression has passed. You have to study Adolf Hitler and Neville Chaimberlin, the appeaser. Neville Chaimberlin fell all over himself trying to not give Adolf Hitler an excuse for aggression. Of course it worked wonderfully and WW2 never happened.

Watched the movie Churchill and have read a book about him. Chamberlain and appeasers like him ((Biden) are dangerous to all freedom loving countries.
