Trudeau has been wimpish as he immediately caved to the loonie left covid quarantine/mask/vax mandates.
I think he had a chance to curb this riot with force. Now it is too late. The Canadian trucker protest has been peaceful and non-threatening, unlike the riots of summer 2020 here.
I do not think a citizens right to protest their government for grievances, so long as peaceful, should be put down by force. That said, I am not familiar with the rights of the Canadian citizenry.

I think what you meant to say is that Trump offered assistance to BLM riot ravaged cities but the local mayors declined it. Trump did send National Guard troops to Portland to protect a federal courthouse that was under siege by BLM rioters/looters.
I fail to see how protecting public assets from wanton burning, vandalism and trespass is authoiritarian.
