That promise was kept my part of the world. Our plantation was divided among many freed slaves.we were allowed to keep 40 acres . We have been working since the end of the rebellion slowly buying back what we could. We have built it back to 740 acres but I'm sure it will never get to what it was . not in my grand kids lifetime anyway. I have instilled the hope of recovery to my kids,grand kids and great grand kids and I will until I die.

Let all the non-citizens in CA vote. The California government deserves them and can try to rule over them.
