There definitely is something special about the heart beyond its obvious physical functions.
Our deepest emotions and convictions can at times literally be felt in our chest. And to embrace your beloved, holding bodies heart to heart is so fulfilling.
After converting to catholism I was astonished and overjoyed that on rare occasions, while kneeling before Christ in Eucharistic Adoration, Jesus actually spoke to me, His Words manifesting not in my ears or head but rather in my heart. After which the Divine Communication was sent to my mind. It is truly a most otherworldly and euphoric experience. To this day, decades later, when I recall those times when Our Lord literally spoke to me, I can feel His Words in my heart rather than remembering His Voice, which remains mystery.
