The traitorous terrorists that attacked our Capitol were simply incompetent. They did not possess the skill, devotion or courage of either the Japanese or 9-11 attackers but in many ways they are far worse. These are our fellow Americans who tried to violently overthrow our republic with the goal of installing a dictatorship over the will of the people. They are not simply a defeated enemy, they are a malignancy on the soul of our nation.

Actually this was bigger than Pearl Harbor or 9/11

This was an attempt to derail an election, it's called a coup in other countries... Those people pissed, took craps in, and defiled the capital of this nation...we do not hang politicians that go against the opinions of a minority group of people...coups, killing and hanging people is banana republic horse crap, which trump was turning this country into a banana republic.

Worst in my opinion, 911 and Pearl Harbor were perpetrated by enemies of theUSA outside our borders. Jan. 6th came from enemies of the USA inside our borders. The most shameful day in American History.

What makes it worst is not the deaths, it's the attack on Democracy itself. the trouble is there's still people who say either it didn't happen, it wasn't as bad as it really was. 9/11 and Perl Harbor was admitted an attack on America, many in congress now make excuses for what happened.

Better....worse....we are too close to the event to actually discern it's full impact. One thing I do know: it will go down in our history as one of it's darkest days. The 'summer of 2020' is nothing but deflection and whataboutism on the part of the right. The responses to the murder of black folks by police has nothing to do with the right wing attempt to overthrow a free and fair election.

The right wing militants' continuing attempts to undermine the will of the majority are covered in the oaths of office: enemies both foreign and domestic. Your Donald Trump and his militias like the proud boys, oath keepers, 3%ers, etc. plus the Trumplican party are just as dangerous to the rest of us Americans as the conservative militarism of Tojo was then and the conservative Islamism is now. You are all cut from the same cloth: obey us or face imprisonment or death. I've listened to and read the rhetoric long enough to know the threat our system faces.

We don't need help....especially not the kind you're offering.

Its not the number of deaths. Pearl Harbor and 9/11 are simply no comparison.

There are many threats to this country. One huge one is the continued leadership vacuum in Washington. Trump wasn’t a leader but a divider. Biden is not capable of healing that division

I don’t see Trump supporters cut from the same cloth. There are the fringe nuts which we saw on Jan 6th but they are not the majority. “Obey us or face imprisonment or death” - where does that come from?

All the op eds almost look like they are designed to keep fueling the division and incite people into doing stupid things. People are so easily manipulated. There is far too much crazy talk and the rise in zealotry shows no sign of abating. We have democrats to thank as well for propping up such a deadbeat.

Nothing will change unless both sides confront their part in this country’s slide. I don’t see that happening

when you speak of dark days in this country there are comparisons, these were all dark days but Jan 6 was perpetrated by people who call themselves Americans. You talk about Biden not being a leader and also say trump was a divider, in that presidential race there was only one vote in my choosing and that was Biden. The Republican party still backs trump and that says a lot, if you can't/won't disavow and reject what happened Jan 6th they are cut from that same cloth. those who don't/won't call out the wrong done that day are just as bad as the people who made the attack itself To date the republican party leaders haven't called this an attack on democracy and still push the idea of mass voter fraud, this is almost as bad as the attack itself

There have been many attacks on democracy by both parties. But because this one was so flagrant you all of a sudden care? Crocodile tears

If people really cared they would demand better candidates. But they don’t. Voters are content to see America in decline or it wouldn’t be.

If the attack on Pearl Harbor and the 9/11 attack on the WTC are not attacks on democracy, then I don't know what is. And tell us, you you think bin Laden or the Japanese had plans to establish a democracy if they won their respective wars??????
