Their motto of "making good men better" produces a far more favorable public image than the more accurate alternative: "how to become demon-possessed in 33-easy-steps." The term "Israel" is a name given by God to Jacob. It is not a name given to him at birth. This is his "spiritual" name because of belief, i.e., belief with the Divine faith given to him by the Holy Spirit to see and believe in God's Eternal Covenant fulfilled by Him in the Messiah. When Christ fulfilled this Covenant there was no longer any need for a material temple or land which served as symbols until His appearance in time. As Jesus said to Pilate, "My Kingdom is not of this world." Believers in Him are the Israelites and the Church. Genetics have nothing to do with it.

Ginny, Just what we needed, another anti Semite on OPP. The most recent DNA on Ashkenazi Jews shows that around 60% shows they have DNA going back to two Italian women. This is probably because many Jews in Rome migrated in the time of Romes decline and destruction.
I had my DNA tested, and it was found that 95% of my DNA is Ashkenazi, and 5% is the same as other peoples among the first to live in the Middle East. As for Cohens, there are certainly lots and lots of Jews that are Cohens. The large number of Palestines came from Egypt, Jorden, and Syria in the late 19th and early 20th century. I don't use religious arguments like Abraham being the father of all Jews and Arab peoples. History and religion are two different things. Many historians don't recognize that there was an Abraham and other Biblical figures like Moses.
As for the Khazars, they were a Turkish people that lived in what is now southern Russia. We don't know if the entire group converted to Judaism, or just the leader. There is no Turkish DNA in Ashkenazi Jews that I know about.
