It is a shame that so many people don't even know who Norman Thomas was and what he said back then. However, my first time to vote for President was when I had to vote absentee from being in Italy with the Army and I voted for Stephenson before we learned what a dove he was. I managed to vote for Kennedy in 1960, for LBJ in 1964 and 1968 and then opened my eyes about McGovern. Haven't even considered a Demoncrap since that year because all of them leaned too far left for me.

Please use the "Quote Reply" under the text you are referring to that way we know who you are addressing and what particularly was said. We all have had to be told this so don't feel like I am singling you out or anything as I think I was told a couple of times before I got it.

If it wasn't for the Unions, you would be working 16 hrs. a day at $2.00 an Hr.
If you leave it up to Companies like Walmart, everyone will be on minimum wage with no benefits 46 Billion is the worth of one Walmart lady that's never worked a day in her life.
Corporations care about one thing, making money for themselves. Screw the employees.

Go into business for yourself and pay your help and pay your taxes and bills, pay your rent on the buildings buy equipment, pay for engineers secretaries office staff office equipment and then come back and tell us how wonderful the unions are. I know a guy out in Oakland that fired all of his sheet metal workers after a strike in the early 90's they were all making more than him and he owned the business. It is this mentality that has destroyed Detroit and will continue to destroy other cities as well as other businesses across this land.

The only way to start to solve there problems. No bail out. More problems there than bankruptcy can do. This is a city that burns itself on october30th every year. They need more than what bankruptcy can do

I do not believe in bailouts whatsoever. I believe if a business, whether large or small, cannot make a go of it, then that business should either quit or go into some other business.

Sure mob families union thugs their all the same they are just another branch of the socialist welfare society. No one gets a raise on their own individual merits. The union sets the line rate as to how many pieces or inits one can do in a day if do more you are told to slow down. I was an engineer and worked in union companies installing equipment. The number of times that skilled trade people had their own equipment vandalized because they were helping me was truly discouraging but it kept them in line to the union rules philosophy. I worked as a supervisor in a Ford plant for two years until I couldn't stand it any longer. It would take the better part of the day to change out a simple low pressure sensor switch on the line. You have to get three skilled trades to do the task a pipe fitter that's to handle an air pressure line of 12psi. "watch out now that could blow you across the room if you are not skilled" "an electrician to handle the high voltage of 6 volts on these switches you just might get a buzz" "and of course we needed a millwright to handle these great big switches that weighed all of maybe 6oz." Getting three skilled trades to do a 15-45 min. job in a union shop takes anywhere from six to eight hours to do. But you can't fire them. To fire a union employee would take as I had it figured back then about two years of warnings, more warnings, days off, more days off, then weeks off, and more weeks off, and if he was still that stupid or hard headed after about two years you might be able to fire him. No wonder the city under union rule failed as well as a lot of union shops fail. And the auto industry wonders why the big three are moving there stuff over seas. And why can the Japanese the Koreans and Germans have auto plants here in the US and they work out well. NO UNIONS you will find these are all located in a right to work state.

I wonder how many union supporters among our group really know the things you talk about here. I bet none of them have ever worked in one of those places but left leaners support other left leaners out of stupidity.

I could go on but it usually just makes my blood boil. The other good conversation I had with union employees was about profit shearing. They kept telling me it was their right to have profit sharing because they deserved it. I put the scenario to them that if they had a business and had mortgaged everything to go into business and they had hired a number of employees to work for them and paid them a fair wage and after the first years they still owed for everything that was mortgaged but the books showed a profit who gets the profit? You who owe all this money and took the gamble and put your life on the line and if the business failed would lose everything and go bankrupt or the employees whom you hired? All of them said that they got the profit amazing simply amazing, I then asked them if Ford motor Co. had a real bad year would they all kick in to keep them afloat and I bet you can guess what the answer was, right on they wouldn't help at all.
