Up until 'gain of function' research into bat coronavirus was 'banned' in the US in 2014, the bat coronavirus studies were conducted in the Level IV virus lab at Chappell Hill, North Carolina. Once the prohibition on engineering bat coronavirus to infect humans was implemented in 2014, the project was outsourced in 2015 to Wuhan, China. A female researcher involved in 'gain of function' at Chappell Hill moved to Wuhan with $$$ (initially $3.7 million NIH grant) approved by Fauci.
