Natural immunity is only as good as the next variation, and being exposed to a high number of Covid germs such as being around someone infected will overwhelm natural immunity.
Whatever we hear today about the "effectiveness" of the vaccines and whatever we do NOT hear today about the benefits of natural immunity .. is only as good as the next contradictory statement from Fauxi et al.
Truth is, the jury is still out on all of this as far as I am concerned. We keep getting misinformation and are told to "do this" and "don't do that" and "follow orders from comrade Fauxi or else," and then a few months later, well we changed our minds, or the science has evolved, or whatever the next excuse is.
A couple of months or so ago, the fda website stated that the fda and cdc issued a joint statement that the vaccines worked against covid AND variants, including the delta variant, AND that natural immunity did AS WELL. After pressure from the cdc, the statement was removed.
Almost every few weeks, it's a different story, and I am done with all of them. I got the vaccine early this year when they first came out because I am a caregiver and I felt it was the best thing to do at the time. Also, because we were told THEN that if we got the vaccine we wouldn't have to wear masks anymore.
"Get the vaccine," they said.
"You won't have to wear a mask," they said.
"It'll be fun," they said.
But, guess what, it wasn't more than a couple months that we were hearing an entirely different story. Mask mandates everywhere, vaccinated or not.
Also, remember they all told us there would not be any vaccine mandates. Remember that little gem? Well, lookie here now what's goin' on.
No, I do not believe anything they say. And when they tell us the "science is evolving" that's just an excuse for "we screwed up ... again." Fact is, they appear to be totally incompetent. The simple fact that they refuse to even consider natural immunity is very telling as far as I am concerned because that is a big part of this "science" thing they keep talking about. Fauxi's only comment, when asked directly about it, was something like, "well it's something we need to discuss." But then he didn't discuss it. He just moved on to the next thing.
Vaccines may be effective, and I don't believe it will cause problems for me. But I am old and do not have to be concerned about long term effects and especially effects on the reproductive system and potential harm to unborn and yet to be conceived children. If I were of childbearing age, I absolutely would not get it. I will never believe there has been enough time to do enough studies that these incompetent fools who have been jerking us around can say with any certainty that it is safe for that group. They don't say much of anything that could be considered as said "with certainty."
