We can but our selfish nature says NO. All the stimulus money that has been sent out this past year is proof to me that that impossible tasks like caring for the unfortunate can be done. We spend trillions on stupid wars and give tax breaks to the rich who rarely share the benefits. We as a people need to decide if we are going to helpthe needy or the greedy.

How about we help needy US citizens first? Wetbacks get put up in $100 night motel rooms while homeless veterans with mental or drug problems sleep on the street because we have all kinds of money for criminal trespassers but can't seem to fix the VA. For that matter there are plenty of non-veteran US citizens who have more claim on my help and sympathy than able bodied foreigners. These invaders are NOT mostly women, children and elderly people. They are men in their twenties and thirties. They want a job? Give them one finishing the wall, and then deport their asses.
In the past ten years wetbacks have cost us at least one trillion dollars. That is money that could have been spent on the "unfortunates" you mentioned who happen to be US citizens.
Every time an illegal receives any taxpayer largesse it is a slap in the face to the millions of immigrants who came here legally.
