Amazing Grace but I want it to be " God Bless America"
In 1772, a slave trader named John Newton was transporting African slaves aboard his ship, and at some point in the voyage, as he watched the slaves suffering, he had an Epiphany, an abrupt change of heart, compassion flooded through him.
Newton wrote a poem about that, he titled it "Amazing Grace".
60 years later, somebody put the poem to music. They chose a major key triad and went to work.
Since then, Amazing Grace, like a musical epidemic, has infected the entire world. The song has been played on just about every instrument imaginable and sung by every imaginable combination of singers - soloists, ensembles, bands (including rock, country, pop, and blues bands) choirs, and orchestra productions.
The Pipes and Drums and Military Band of the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards recorded an album titled 'Amazing Grace". The bagpipe arrangement for the song went viral, pipe bands and solo pipers all over the world played it.
The lyrics (poem) have been translated into many languages and the song performed by the native speakers with their own interpretations, musical styles and traditions.
Amazing Grace is a song of redemption, it is meant for all human beings on earth, not just Americans.
