There are some truly decent people here at opp, the kind of people I would call friends and go the distance for, whatever that meant. But I am not a people person. I do not make small talk easily.

I get one or two pms everyday. Okay, ty--and I want to let it go at that. Nothing personal--please! Very hard for me to just be human. I got that I was aloof and cold all my life, when I was really shy and introverted. Looks the same. And there is this: that I do not measure up to anyone, friend or foe. Have not been able to shake that.

I need and want friends but I am not great at being a friend, as usually defined. I think way too much and like it. Revel in it, really. But it is a shallow place. Others make life whole. I may be able to let this be true, for once.

Hhmmmm, I like to chat, especially on the phone- for up to two to three hours at a time, once in a while. I love to be out and about and chat simple conversations with whoever I run into.
My friends are chosen very carefully, and the rest are acquaintances. Hobbies consist of growing large house plants, beadwork, and several arts and crafts.
Being very emotionally driven drives my need to be very picky and selective about friends. I don't like getting hurt, stabbed in the back, these are deep wounds for me that take time to resolve. Acquaintances; see only the side of me I want to be seen. I love to write, that is where I can unleash my emotionally driven passions.
Of course I love to laugh, and make others laugh, and have always been told I have a witty sense of humor.
I love our male counterpart, and can dazzle with brilliance, but don't like the one that wears hairspray in his hair. Ugh. Might as well throw a whole pool of water on my flame if I see that. :?

Dear Rumitoid and others who prefer thought over human interaction:One of the many qualities of OPP is that one can bear one's soul and let the chips fall where they may.Here goes:I have always been a loner and that course in life has become perfectly acceptable to me now that I am in my golden years.This is because the pursuits that enrich my life are solitary ones(reading,journal writing and films are the Big Three).
However,I treasure the friends that I have,and I am adept at conversation.I find that humor,knowledge and intelligence are important factors in social discourse.
As well,politeness,good manners and respect for others(even if you dislike them)make life much more pleasant for me and those people whom I meet in society.
