There used to be a country that prided itself on its powerful individualism and strong sense of nationhood. In many ways, it was a miracle of human achievement; its people guided their own lives, whatever they could achieve was theirs to enjoy, they didn't always agree with one another but they all recognized the other's right to be different.

Life was not perfect but the people, most of them, were open to whatever changes were needed to make things better. No matter where they came from, they became Americans and shared in the miracle.

Then came Political correctness!

There had never been prohibitions on what was thought or said. Ordinary courtesy placed some limitations on those things but no matter how offended one might have been, everyone understood that the freedom to speak must extend to everyone or it would extend to no one. Somewhere along the line, the people forgot that basic tenet of a free people. The freedom to speak relies on the ability to think freely. For the first time, Americans were told what to think and what was permissible to say and what was not.

That lead to a whole new category of crime, the hate crime. As if killing someone in an fit of anger was less devastating than targeting them for some intrinsic human quality.

Then came multi-culturalism!

It is confounding that the powers that be, those promoting that cancerous ideology, could not recognize segregation when it stared at them from the myriad little ghettos it produced.

The once great nation, a people open to every and any challenge, became a self-conscious, self-censoring, trembling herd of fearful little automata; so many pathetic little bumper cars, aimlessly and timidly maneuvering through lives devoid of meaning and empty of accomplishment.

How does a nation commit suicide?

Is there still a chance to intervene and extend the American experiment. There are still some Americans left. Are there enough? Only if we can throw off the yokes of Political Correctness and multi-culturalism and that requires the demolition of the Left.
