Yes Mn and ND are the two states that seem to be doing well in the country due to the Bakken formation and other energy production going on there. I do hear that housing is off the charts as people come to fill the jobs that are available there. Is that the case?

Unfortunately most of the Nat Gas is being flared off.

Patty, I have no article to copy and paste, but as I sit on this Sunday morning, the TV local news is reporting a new mall in Eagan Mn is having a job fair this weekend, yesterday and today, hoping to hire 1600 people for jobs in 70 stores. An apartment complex is also going up a few blocks from the mall. The traffic is lousy down in the cities due to all the construction underway throughout the metro area and out-state. Bridges being rebuilt and repaired. A young lady enrolled in medical school for the fall semester is overjoyed, the job she got was tailored for her summer and then fall hours.

I know nothing about phantom jobs, but in our area the economy is truly rebounding and honest, things look pretty darn good in Minnesota.

Also, the unemployment rate for what that is worth, is about 4.5% for all of the state. You may say those figures are worthless, but they are calculated the same as the rest of the nation, so they at least give a relative value.

Patty, I think MN must gets a little bennie from the ND oil, but it is in the far west next to Montana, so we see little direct effect from it. I did know a couple people who went to ND a few years ago to catch on to those jobs.
What MN seen mostly is rail traffic and existing pipelines that go through our state.

Yes, the flaring of the natural gas continues to anger me big time. I never hear of any attempt to harvest it rather than let it go to waist.

MN has always had a varied economy, farm, tourist, medical, mining and who knows what else. To tell the truth I have little idea as to why thing are going well, the state politics are going well by most standards but that will soon end. The drought has officially ended, but that has not yet had an effect. So I have no clue for the why..

Yes look like you are right. Sorry bout that. I thought it was on the eastern border because the Keystone was planned to go down through Nebraska.
Thanks Permafrost. I don't know why they are doing well but good for them.

Astro, only a small question. What is wrong with PBS? Even one of the Koch brothers helps put on some of those programs, I think it is "Nova" or "Nature". I watch PBS quite a lot and have no idea why someone would find fault with it.

I too watch PBS whenever I get time, I like to watch "World" but their political shows are very biased! And our local NPR went "Digital" now you can only get liberal, gay-biased reporting!

I had visitors this morning while typing that post! I also miss Karl Hasse, and Pipe Dreams, I'v always loved classical music, since high school when I played in the orchestra, And had a music-appreciation class (classical opera and concert pieces). I worked out of my truck on farms and groves, I put speakers outside. Even in my shop! I was hurt when they went digital, and the already liberal news went to full time gay promotion! But one of those pieces had me sympathizing with an HIV, gay couple's deaths! A pitiful end to their chosen lifestyle.

I think you can thank conservative policies for all that, even though the progressives tried to have Scott Walker recalled, did nothing but obstruct everything he did, and lied constantly. A shining example of what sticking to doing the right thing does

I believe you're describing the mindset of the mainstream media (MSM) today and that's we're are too daft to handle the truth. I have often said that besides having a teenager in your home, you never know how dumb you are until you converse with a liberal (about 90% of the MSM). You will find you don't know how to raise your kids, manage your property, spend your money the right way, run your business, select health care insurance, buy a toilet or light bulbs for your home so they limit your choices or eliminate them altogether.

Wouldn't it be refreshing to bring back journalism and have the media simply report the facts without their political agenda mixed in? We're adults and can make up our own minds, right? In the book, Biased by Bernard Goldberg of CBS News, he describes how news and commentary is slanted or eliminated to form public opinion. To offset this, I use "trust but verify" most of the bigger stories instead of taking what they say at face value.

Have a great week! 8-)
