The CDC announced that a recent reported big spike in deaths following COVID vaccinations was a mistake. The number suddenly jumped from about 6,000 to over 12,000. A CDC spokeswoman said that someone doing an update on a passive reporting system they run with the FDA must’ve made a mistake, which was noticed after a few days, and they’re “working it out.”

Two points worth noting:
1. Deaths in the period after receiving the vaccine do not necessarily mean the vaccine caused the deaths.
2. Making dumb mistakes that big that you can’t even explain does not help inspire public confidence in the CDC.
