I think it was happening before 1970 as American's started buying everything from Japan. It is now China except for cars and TV's. I fear if we get into a war we are goners as we won WWII because of our heavy industry and American's with a work ethic that allowed them to engage in jobs that required manual labor as well as their brains. I am not sure we have very much left of those resources now. When I asked the neighbor kid what he would do if he needed something fixed in his house his reply was that he would hire someone to do it. Today everyone thinks all problems can be solved by pushing buttons on their hand held devices.

Too bad and sad you are correct.
I wonder about those who drive Jap pickup and fly an American Flag on the tailgate. Don't they understand that they are defeating America that way?

10 Foreign Cars Made In The US (And 10 American Cars That Aren't)
There are many Americans who prefer to buy domestic cars over a foreign model, either to support local jobs or from a belief that American cars are better made. However, there are many Americans who are the exact opposite, as they were likely burned by a poorly made American car in the past and will never own another.

I was one that was burned by a foreign car. Bought brand new and needed a new engine at 30,000 miles. I called home and asked my cousin to drive my Chevy pickup to come and get me. The Chevy turned its first 100,000 miles on the way to pick me up. In that many miles I had replaced a clutch and one set of brakes.

I saw a state vehicle that was a Toyota a few years back. It really ticked me off...

I don't believe that more humans...anyplace in the world would be a positive thing for humanity or the planet. More human populations require the destruction of wild animal habitat and I have more compassion for the endangered animals than I do for the destructive greedy humans.
Given 3 square feet of space, the entire population of the world would fit in the state of Delaware.
If every human on earth obeyed God's instructions for stewardship, there would be more than enough land for humans and animals to live, the populations of both could grow, and there would be ample resources for all of them.
IOW, the expanding population is not the problem, the horrible manner in which men shun their responsibilities to themselves and to the world in general is.

These are no necessarily in the order of danger.
1-Communism
2-Islam
3-Overpopulation
Planet warming and climate change don't even make the list!!
The great almighty people running our govt say the greatest dangers are climate change, white supremacy & radical Christianity. Wow, we are in deep doodoo

Referring to Japanese as "jap" is racist. It has the same connotation as "nip"", "yellow monkey", and "gook". The word "Jap" was used extensively during WW2 as a slanderous term.
The Japanese are our friends now, and their products are far superior to any of the crap coming out of China.
And, Japan is in China's crosshairs.
One thing I know from experience is Japanese cutlery and wood working tools are the finest on the planet.

Some of those profits go to U.S. workers regardless of the countries manufacturer.
I once bought a new Cadillac, it overheated 30 miles from the dealership within a year with barely 4000 miles the head bolts pulled out of the block.
And, Cadillac charged me 50% of the repair costs.
Also, bought a diesel Chevy truck and it spent more time getting repaired the first year I bought it than used.
Sold that $25,000.00 truck for $15,000.00 after 1 1/2 years.
Ford F150 4 wheel drive bought new and at 500,000 miles was still going strong, couldn't kill it.
I now own several both foreign and domestic cars,
for the most part, both are holding up well.
So there are good and bad in both foreign and domestic.

I am a pre WWII baby. In elementary school we referred to the enemy as Japs. We also pulled our eyes so they were slanted and stuck our teeth over our lower lips so we would look like Tojo. Early childhood learning and it was fine then and I still hold them to account for making war on America. And yes, I do have a few Japanese friends but that is one on one, not a nation full of enemies who attacked us. Truman was the greatest US President of the 1900's as he was the only one with courage enough to end the war.
