A man purchased a new sports car and a man approached and told him that the money used to buy this car could've fed thousands of less fortunate people.

A guy looked at my Corvette the other day and said, "I wonder how many people could have been fed for the money that sports car cost?"

I replied I'm not sure:

it fed a lot of families in Bowling Green, Kentucky who built it,
it fed the people who make the tires,
it fed the people who made the components that went into it,
it fed the people in the copper mine who mined the copper for the wires,
it fed people in at Caterpillar who make the trucks that haul the copper ore.
It fed the trucking people who hauled it from the plant to the dealer
and fed the people working at the dealership and their families.

BUT,... I have to admit, I guess I really don’t know how many people it fed.

That is the difference between capitalism and the welfare mentality.

When you buy something, you put money in people’s pockets and give them dignity for their skills.
When you give someone something for nothing, you rob them of their dignity and self-worth.
Capitalism is freely giving your money in exchange for something of value.
Socialism is having the government take your money against your will and give it to someone else for doing nothing.

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

AV, thank you. I am certain this post is too complicated for the leftist/liberal/communist here to understand. Corvette is probably on the list of unacceptable terms since it is historically a class of warships used for destroying peaceful nations & spreading the evil of Capitalism.

We are too old to understand the new world, at least I am. I think if I was ever taught upside down, backward, thinking, I would remember it. I grew up on a small farm & can’t remember the milk cows bringing buckets of milk to the kitchen or hens bringing eggs. The old mule that taught me to plow was not able to hook himself up to the plow. I don’t remember the garden planting itself, fruits & vegetables miraculously canning themselves & showing up in the pantry. I can’t remember who I gave my first BB gun to, but I remember having to pick the cotton to buy it. Cotton seemed to refuse to pick itself and go to the gin.

I can’t remember ever telling anyone I deserved a damn thing. My parents figured being born healthy, with enough sense to get out of the rain was a gift from God & from that point on you had to earn things. The thought of telling my parents I wanted something & expecting for them to automatically get it for me, never entered my mind.

Thank you. Those words make it so simple that even the mentally challenged should understand but they will not as they do not want too. So much easier to take than to earn.
