Didn't Ole Spoolears promise that Detroit would not go bankrupt. Imagine that another empty promise, followed by deception and corruption.

Maybe they "didn't build that".

My first thought was that I thought they had already declared that long ago. I knew it was coming but thought it already had come.
Our socialism will be gone in about another decade. Those of us who are left might learn something the Russians already have.

According to MSNBC it's all the republicans fault. You ought to here there reverse logic on this one it is really interesting how the progressives can switch it around and blame the republicans when the last time a republican had any say in Detroit was back in I think 1947 or somewhere in that time frame. This is all democrat and union work and the US is on the same path.
Well it is happening all across the country. Started in California when those public servants paid themselves extreme amounts of tax dollars. Then we saw city after city go bankrupt there. Then the process spread.
What I find interesting about Detroit is, it is located in Illinois. The state of Lincoln and Obama. It shows one thing that big government needs to tax more and more and deliver less services except it needs an even larger police force.
Of course crime goes up when the productive population goes down, and taxes go up. When the tax base goes down crime goes up. The books have to balance you know. With empty buildings to hide in gangs have a perfect base of operation. What can anyone say? Obama wants bigger government because he knows what is best for everyone. So spread the wealth and lower the tax base and print money with no backing.
Bernanke stated that money was just irrelevant anyway. With rising prices wages rise and everyone is happy. Better to fire him. He is a nut.
Well Detroit has a large uncontrolled voter base also so anyone can vote there even the dead. Might be that will be the only votes Detroit government gets in the next few years.

Not trying to be smart assed but I must ask when you moved the city of Detroit from Michigan to Illinois? I think you may find that unions have about as much influence in Michigan as corrupt politicians do in Illinois.

I was wondering the same thing, I was born and raised in central Michigan and was taught that Detroit was part of Michigan and when I look at a map I see it is closer to Ohio than it is to Chicago

It's refreshing to know that there are some things so indisputable that we can (almost) all agree Detroit is in Michigan, not Illinois.
