The pencil is simply the tool used. As many point out (and you just did the same) "assault" is an action - not a 'thing'.
I was recently assaulted by a hot fudge sundae - I fought back and devoured it before it could harm me.....

I want to know who the hell owns assault weapons ? I have a AR-15 but it is a rifle !not an assault weapon .I know lots of people who have AR-15s not one of them owns an assault weapon ! They are hunting rifles like the AR-10 .308 .223 is a great deer rifle .

Wm06108...if you hit only "Reply" or "Quick Reply" no one will know who you are responding to. If you hit "Quote Reply", the person's comment that you are responding to is displayed, thus letting everyone know who you are responding to.
If you are answering someone's question, it might not be obvious whose question you are answering if you just use "Reply" or "Quick Reply".
