It is the pressure of the 02 gases in the cylinder that causes the explosion. If the room is oxygen saturated it will act like a cylinder and explode. Once released the 02 causes the fire to burn hotter. When on 02 if you start to smoke it will cause the cherry on the end to move faster up the cigerette.
