Indeed, there are poisonous vipers to be found.

L-J, one can go back to 1948 when Truman blew the Gallup poll away with his victory over Thomas Dewey.

Glad you liked the article, L-J. Along with music and movies, I'm also a history buff.

What? No snarky answer to LJ? Same response I gave you, such a congenial hypocrite.
I would think that someone with such an advanced intellect as yourself would use their common sense and logic to stay out of the pit of snakes as you posted. Clear case of the pot calling the kettle black. I find you humorous as well as hard to believe on some posts.

Can't get that burr out'ta your arse, can ya', Had'nuf Perhaps you should consider that L-J is more congenial than an ol' curmudgeon such as yourself, thus more likely to bring out the better side of posters.

Btw, pardon me if you find my response to be a bit too snarky for your sensitive nature.

Spoken like a true hypocrite. Your response is to be expected. After 20+ years in LE sensitivity is not an issue. I don’t have to prove myself to anyone. If I valued your opinion, which I don’t, I would curl up like a dem/lib/prog, nice try.
That’s all you got, so it’s okay to resort to name calling. If you can’t dazzle them with knowledge, baffle them with BS is your creed. I hope Sgt Maj. is okay with your flirtatious manner with female posters, I’m sure you put her in her place.
Your hypocrisy is so transparent. A true autocrat to the bone. Lol.

Wow, you're really out there with this kind'a nonsensical post. Even as congenial as I generally am, I will respond in kind...

Yes, I do admit to being a fan of Harry Truman, whose quote you paraphrased. And, I value your opinion about as highly as you do mine, so all's good with that. Where you find hypocrisy in my posts is questionable, and if labeling you a curmudgeon is damaging to your fragile ego, so be it. However, as far as levels of name-calling goes, that's pretty damn mild. And, btw, there are many LEOs in my immediate Family and I am somewhat aware of their sensitivities...or lack thereof.

To be clear, the Sgt. Major's place is in my heart, and L-J (as well as the other ladies on OPP) knows full well our devotion to one another. It seems that your insecurities (paranoia?) are destroying any clarity of thought you may have once had.

You know so little about so much, you are a legend in your own mind.
Curmudgeon fits you so well, you can’t see it.
You can try playing your mind games with others and many fall for it. I see right through your game.
As a Vietnam veteran from the 60’s and being in LE, and as a hostage negotiator for 16 yrs dealing with alcoholics, drug addicts and very depressed people I have grown thick skinned to being called names. You are an amateur compared to them. I can honestly say I saved many lives while on patrol and during negotiating. I dealt with hundreds, and never lost one. Yes I am sensitive, especially for those in need. Like the old saying goes, “sticks and stones can hurt my bones but words will never hurt me”. Many have tried like you, but I stand strong.
Your closing paragraph sounds like a page right out of Coumo’s handbook on how to treat women. You see how that’s working out for him, but then again he is a democrat, so you won’t see it.
I am in complete control of my mental capacities, no paranoia here. What training have you had to make such a prognosis of anyone.
You probably need to mind your P’s and Q’d around family LE. Then again they probably exercise control to keep peace in the family.

>>>By trolling me, you appear to be the one addicted to mind games. Good luck with that. I find you somewhat droll.

>>>As a Viet Nam Vet from 1967-69 in I Corps, I can empathize with much of what you say here. My duties in-country as FDC watch Sgt. and limited as an FO, contributed to saving numerous lives. For years, I have also spent time with local Vets, both socially and in helping 'em through hard times. It's good to read of our sharing commonalities. For you, a belated welcome home.

>>>This empty, unknowing rhetoric may play well with others...not so much with me. Admittedly, my limited knowledge of social behavior stems mostly from exposure to my parent's professional careers. My Dad was an attorney...both criminal and civil, while my step-mom was a clinical psychologist. I also dabbled in court reporting. The LEOs in my Family, all siblings/cousins/nephews/Veterans, and I get along just fine. I'll be seeing 'em next month at a Memorial Service to our brother. I feel secure and confidant in my own mental capacities. I am very strong-willed and prefer to identify as an independent. I wrote in Jim Webb for president in 2016. I couldn't bring myself to vote for either Clinton or Trump. I felt our nation would lose with either.

Having remembered, perhaps too late, that we are both 'Nam Vets, I feel most uncomfortable squabbling with a 'Brother In Arms'. I have maintained a sense of camaraderie with each who fought/served in that god-forsaken place. It seems a shame that after both of us making it home, we find ourselves in combative discourse over each other's perceived wrong-headedness.

We each fought for...among other things, freedom of expression.

Still with the head games, but I can better understand where you come from. Must have been difficult growing up with your parents. That explains your wanting to be right and in control all of the time. It’s okay to be wrong at times and admit it.
Life is a bumpy road at times, enjoy the ride.
Apparently your parents never talked to you about their jobs, shame on them. It would have benefited you to learn more about social behavior.
Sorry for your loss, I hope your brother did not suffer. May he rest eternally in peace.
I was there 68 & 69, with 5th SFG, Army. Operating in Cambodia & Laos, you know when we weren’t there. Welcome home to you also.

I accept that many on OPP (including us) to some degree play "head games". For reasons stated previously, I shall disengage until or if drawn back into further exchanges. Our local 'Nam Vets, a diverse group, has found it best to avoid political discussions. We generally restrict 'em by simply agreeing to disagree.

BTW, I was also there in I Corps, '68-'69, with 1/11 USMC.
