Things are not the same everywhere. Like finding a DMV within thirty miles for some people.
But they can find them and go to them when they’re trying to get ID to apply for social services can’t they?

No that’s not stupid it’s BS!
Facts are not BS.
In 2011, the Alabama legislature passed a voter ID law requiring voters to bring an approved form of photo identification — such as a state-issued driver's license — to the polls. The law went into effect in 2014, and in 2015 state authorities made a surprising announcement: They'd be shuttering 31 of the roughly 75 driver's license offices in the state, ostensibly due to budgetary problems.

As it turned out, many of the offices were located in majority-black counties, leading to widespread public outcry and criticism from civil rights groups.

You know better than that.

Yeah sure! Every poll worker knows every voter by sight, right? Stop the cheating! Demand an ID.
Check on the percentage of Americans over voting age that have a driver's license. Is that too hard to figure out?

There was a time when the poll workers did know everybody. My Mother worked the polls every year. It was set up in a neighbors garage.

Stupid is not acknowledging the republicans don’t want people to vote if they live in certain areas.
No more stupid than not acknowledging that the democrats, in certain areas, want every single person, legal or not, dead or not, to vote democrat.
ANYONE in America can register to vote. Anyone. ANYONE in America CAN vote, as long as they are not in a coma. Anyone. You are quibbling over laws intended to make sure votes are LEGAL by claiming that they are intended to limit the ability of democrat constituents to vote. How disingenuous of you. Also dishonest, deceitful, and downright unbelievable. Only the incredibly ignorant would fall for that.

You refuse to admit that voter suppression is alive and well. But you are a lost cause.

I do not know if that is true. But if it is, why do you not accept that it was to meet a legally mandated state budget? How do you know it was primarily in minority area? And even if it was, how do you know it wasn't because those particular offices were under utilized? And like Linda has asked, how are these folks getting the necessary identification for social services, beer and tobacco, banking, etc? And even if everything you say and imply is true, looking at in the WORST possible way, the legislature made it a little less convenient to get an ID. It still is not difficult. Hardly merits comment, much less controversy.

Voter suppression is a very real thing. In the past. The democrats employed it as well as republicans. In this day and age, with our country's infrastructure, the internet, universal telephone service, and most families with multiple automobiles plus access to other means of transportation, voter suppression is virtually impossible.
I reiterate:
ANYONE who wants to vote CAN do so.
If might be a little easier for some than others, but not difficult and never impossible.
But YOU are a lost cause because you do not care about voter suppression itself. The left just wants the issue.

I don’t have those issues in California.

Neither does anyone else, anywhere else in the United States of America.
The left wants HR 1 for only one reason. So that finding, identifying, and stopping illegal voting will be almost impossible in future elections. The voter suppression "issue" is no more relevant today than the democrat's Jim Crow laws are.
