When you ask "Did our Founding Fathers want 51 states?" it is a rather funny question. Might we instead think that "Our Founding Fathers wanted 50 states"??
Ok, now, back to the main point: should DC be "a state"? You mention "a majority in the House or the Senate". The issue appears to be whether DC residents should have a say in government. Should people in DC be represented by votes similarly as other U.S. people are represented by votes?
I say, they're people, so they should have a say in the government. They're people, so they should have votes like other people have votes, and representation in Congress like other people have representation in Congress.
Moreover (as if that weren't enough already), they're "taxed", so they should have "representation". (I'm recalling the old motto "No taxation without representation.")
What good is a government in which some people have a bigger say than others? Or, what good is a government that taxes some people and governs over them but doesn't allow them a vote in Congress, when all the _other_ people do have a vote in Congress?
Another thing you say is:
"what are the chances that Republicans will ever get a majority in the House or the Senate for that matter again ?? Or Republican will ever become President again???"
Why WOULDN'T Republicans get majorities in House or Senate or become President?
Would it be because most of the people don't WANT them?
Should we anticipate that, and try to design, or retain, a system in which the MAJORITY doesn't count, so that we can instead let a MINORITY decide the government?
What would be the purpose of such a government -- to empower the people who live in the nation? Or to empower somebody else, or to empower something else? Or, to empower some people, and disempower others? Maybe, to empower a minority, and disempower a majority?

Since the adoption of the Twenty-third Amendment to the United States Constitution in 1961, Washington, D.C. has had three electoral votes in the election of the President and Vice President of the United States and has participated in every U.S. presidential election since that time.

Make them get control over the States they HAVE, then start tacking on more problems they can't handle.

Well hell, that makes sense - let’s take an predominately black city where most residents (who have a job) work for the “gubment” and create NO product that can be sold to the public for a profit to pay their wages, thus generating a tax base. Oh that’s right, I forgot, those “employees” pay income tax but where did that money come from to pay their bloated salaries?? Yeah and they want to convert this demonrat ran city to a state. Makes sense to me, we might as well convert all demonrat ran cities to states. Makes as much sense as converting the District of Columbia to a state. Ohhh, thats right!! Making the District of Columbia a state magically creates two more Senators who can be depended upon to vote with the radical, self-serving demonrats. Ladies and Gentlemen - if this bull shirt is allowed we are done as a Constitutional Republic as the leftist demonrats will control the Senate in perpetuity. It will be a sad day for our country if that happens.
Before you dependable leftist even start with how wonderful it will be for your side to be totally in charge, try to imagine how you would like it if the Senate was controlled by ultra right wing republicans forever.

In the House yesterday, Republicans said DC couldn't become a state "because it didn't have any mines or auto dealerships".

That is correct , darling - because surely D.C. with its greatly diversified populace -45.4% black ,42.5% white ,4.1% Asian ,4.4% some other race ,and 0.3% Native American and Alaskan Native ,0.1% Pacific Islander, and 3.3% from two or more races will come into the Union as a blue state ,and don't even talk about Puerto Rico , that would give the Democrats a minimum edge of 52 to 50 without the fringe of needing a vice president for a tie breaking vote ,pair that with eliminating filibuster procedures, and the U.S.A. will become "WAKANDA FOREVER"

Don’t you wish Republicans had some kind of platform which didn’t just appeal to the wealthy and dirt poor white supremacists?
It's noise, thr constitution says a new state CANNOT be formed within the boundries of an existing state. Please read the constitution. If the dummy dems try it will be shot down in the SCOTUS.
