Apparently legal at least at the time, no? Who passed those laws, do you suppose? Which people were still in Congress when that stuff was formally ok-ed, or was it always OK? Corporations and businesses and men running them take advantage of laws passed in their favor-I think that is the point of lobbying, no? That a non-politician takes advantage of those laws and is able to refuse a salary, is not exactly the most evil thing I have heard ever, and perhaps not most evil thing today! Once again-who elects and re elects these people to be in Congress? Something to think about. Personally, if I had my way, I would throw the whole bunch out on their ear, no pensions, no health care, and they would be required to get into the SS system-and I would replace them with people who work, single mothers who have children of dead beat dads, graduates of local colleges, and technical schools-no rich need apply-and forbid lobbying-replace lobbyists with actual working Americans, union and nonunion alike-law abiding, creative people not afraid of new ideas. Never happen, of course, but I can dream!

And, of course, no credit for the republicans voting for their principles and for the constituents who voted them in. When republicans vote together, it is said they are scared and threatened. When democrats do, they are supposedly voting their conscience.
The only problem with that theory is that it is reversed. Pelosi openly threatens, and as far as I can tell, few democrats and no rinos HAVE consciences.

I agree with you, they should not be getting pensions. they go to congress, do their duty, go home and resume their career.

Why do people allow the government agencies to be secretive if this is an open society?
