If descendents of slaves deserve to be paid for the suffering of their ancestors, why shouldn't I be paid for the fact that my ancestors did not make black people suffer as slaves? You want to be paid because your forebears didn't own slaves? What, are you a first or second generation immigrant? So, your forebears were from North or West Europe? Didn't get off the boat until after WWII? IF you arrived to America sooner rather than later, your family wasn't here during slavery. If your family was here during slavery, then why should you be paid for doing the right thing.

I am Native American. My recorded and documented family history indicates that my forebears had members who both owned slaves and were slaves. I have no questions about my family history. My grandfather, a veteran of WWI, was a member of the kkk. He was a very flawed human being, petrified that he was inadequate. He used his religiosity as proof of his place in Darwin's chronology. His children ALL were DEEPLY involved with Civil Rights, desegregation, and Equal Rights for Women. The generation I grew up with have been actively involved with closing the wealth gap. I don't think you get it.

My family was Coal miners to my grand dad run Big Shovel believe a million pound drag length 39 years black lung an his father 1844-1927 was in Civil War ( but wasn't Civil really ) . Mom's side .My dad side great grandmother came here 1889 from Worcestershire England ( they still mine there ) . There's some hillbilly in there on Moms side I think .
