Schumer, Democratic lawmakers to push for $50,000 in student loan forgiveness

This is Crapola. The universities are already indoctrination centers for the left and Schmucky Schumer wants to give away more of your money. This is absolute insanity from the Democrats and RINOs to gain more voters. When people figure out they can vote benefits to themselves, all is lost. The teachers don't want to go back to work. The university teachers have a lifetime job due to tenure and they keep getting their paychecks through the pandemic. The Democratic Party doesn't care one iota about little people they claim to look out for. The Republicans will try to play one-upmanship by also spending your money because they see the taxpayers as an endless supply of money, and when that runs out they can print more.

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer joined Sen. Elizabeth Warren and several of the most progressive Democratic lawmakers on Thursday in urging Biden to use executive action to forgive $50,000 in federal student debt for all borrowers.

“We are here to take a huge burden off so many people,” Schumer said. “College should be a ladder up (not) an anchor down.”

Newly minted Rep. Mondaire Jones, who represents Westchester County, supported the push along with fellow Democratic Reps. Ayanna Pressley of Massachusetts and Ilhan Omar of Minnesota.

Schumer (D-N.Y.) said he and Warren (D-Mass.) have researched the question and concluded that “this is one of those things the president can do on his own.” Past presidents have cleared debt, Schumer said, although not at the scale being proposed.

Democrats are pressing the issue as a matter of racial justice and as COVID-19 relief. They draw on statistics showing that Black and Latino borrowers are more likely to take on student debt and to take longer repaying their loans.

Hours after the Schumer presser, a tweet by White House press secretary Jen Psaki said President Biden was looking to Congress to act next on student loan relief. Biden has said he supports up to $10,000 in student loan forgiveness per borrower.

“The President continues to support the canceling of student debt to bring relief to students and families,” Psaki tweeted. “Our team is reviewing whether there are any steps he can take through executive action and he would welcome the opportunity to sign a bill sent to him by Congress.”

Calls for debt forgiveness have been mounting following years of college tuition increases that have contributed to ballooning national student debt. More than 42 million Americans now hold federal student loans amounting to a combined $1.5 trillion, according to Education Department data.

In an effort to provide relief soon after the pandemic hit last year, the Trump administration paused federal student loan payments and set interest rates at zero percent. Upon taking office, Biden extended the moratorium through at least Sept. 30.

Republicans have pledged to fight any attempt at blanket debt cancellation, saying it unfairly moves the burden from borrowers to taxpayers.

In a Wednesday hearing with Biden’s nominee for education secretary, Sen. Richard Burr ( R-N.C.) urged the White House to reject calls for mass forgiveness and instead pursue legislation to simplify loan repayment options.

That's stupid. What about the millions of people, myself included, that paid back every penny of their loans? Are we going to get a $50,000 refund?

How about making the institutions that over charged for their "education", refund half the money they illegally obtained and use THAT money to repay some loans?

How about doing something about the government-educational complex. Democrats and Republicans please do something about the way Higher Education is putting some into a trap of lifelong debt.

Here is some more Crapola thanks to the RINOs.

Sen. Mitt Romney proposes $350 per child monthly payments to families

New welfare program
CHRIS PANDOLFOFebruary 04, 2021

Sen. Mitt Romney (R-Utah) will introduce a plan to create a new welfare program Thursday, granting parents of young children $350 per child every month in perpetuity — not just during the coronavirus pandemic.

Romney announced his proposal, called the Family Security Act, in a news release that touted the program as "a new national commitment to American families by modernizing antiquated federal policies into a monthly cash benefit."

"American families are facing greater financial strain, worsened by the COVID-19 pandemic, and marriage and birth rates are at an all-time low," Sen. Romney said. "On top of that, we have not comprehensively reformed our family support system in nearly three decades, and our changing economy has left millions of families behind. Now is the time to renew our commitment to families to help them meet the challenges

Democrat policies caused the student loan crisis when they took over student loans during the Obama administration as part of the Obamacare bill. They made it available to anyone who wanted it at very high interest rates. This caused tuition inflation as demand exceeded available facilities. Now democrats want to take credit for claiming to solve a problem that they intentionally started. All at tax payers expense.

Can't think of a single reason that tax payers should pay someone else's debts. You took on the debt to get an education so you can make more money. Well, if you are making more money, pay your debt. If you aren't, is it because you failed in school taking on more then you were capable of, or went for some stupid degree that no one gives a shitte about or is willing to give you a salary for.
It is your problem. Pay your own damn debt.

But, but, but, I was duped by the universities into getting these loans. All my teachers from K-12 said I needed to go to college. It's their fault. I can't be responsible for my decisions and actions. It's their fault.

Why not just give every American 2 million dollars. That would solve all problems and no one would ever have to work again in the glorious utopian Peoples Republic. Wheelbarrows? No problem, just buy them from China.

I know it's popular to blame a particular party and/or administration, but it isn't even remotely accurate. This problem has been in existence for 50 years or more, repubs and dems play lip service to fixing this every 4 years...............then promptly forget about it.

Hint: How many politicians went to college? How many protect their alma mater?
