I thought at the end you would say this is satire. Introduction of this Bill should disqualify her as a state representative. Hell it should disqualify her from the human race.

And this IDIOT sits in the Texas Legislature?? She must have gotten her brains in a Cracker Jacks box! YGTBSME!

A little common sense. This should make it as clear as mud. Although stand your ground has been used for murder.

The changes are significant. Why should the homeowner be forced to retreat in their own home ????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
[also, quote ]Terry Meza's initials are not AOC. Am I missing something regarding the title of this topic ?????
Being a native Texan, I see little chance of the bill going anywhere.

As far as the thread title goes, I can only figure L.D. is suggesting Ms. Meza is dumber than AOC.
The changes are significant. Why should the homeow... (show quote)

May I assume that you do not agree with either Ms. Meza or Mr. Moldyoldy ?

Thank you for straightening me out on the title. I should have grasped it, but it was too simple. Sometimes the obvious is not obvious.

Here is a link to the actual language in the bill for anyone interested in facts rather than hysterics and Henny Penny hand wringing. It simply adds a burden to safely retreat before using deadly force if possible. https://legiscan.com/TX/text/HB196/id/2214951

A person does not have any obligation to 'retreat' from criminals. When the criminal enters the home, the home owner should use deadly force.

It's not like the intruder has a shopping list. Shoot.

Often the criminal is the one claiming stand your ground. Zimmerman stalked Martin and killed him when the police told him to stay away.

Whether looking at the intent of the legislation, or the plain meaning of the words of Section 784.048 of the Florida Statutes, it is clear that in the eyes of the law, Zimmerman did not stalk Martin on the evening the teen was shot.

Definition

Stalking can be defined as the willful and repeated following, watching or harassing of another person. Unlike other crimes, which usually involve one act, stalking is a series of actions that occur over a period of time.

I stated my opinion of the bill in response to Nwtk2007's question of me on page 3 of this thread.

Forensics proved the kid attacked Zimmerman and it became known that Zimmerman was correct; the kid was up to no good.

That version seems to leave more than a few details out.
