Grief requires time to heal. Grieving for a nation going down.
Good music surrounding you is a wonderful aid! Oldies and Goodies!
Reaching into the bookcase again to find some great reads is another soothing act.
Staying aware of possibilities for recovering the nation is a must as well!
Movies and videos are also a welcome diversion.
Delving into philosophy can be rewarding, especially from the newer generation of thinkers.
The opposition is not worth hating or lifting a finger to help.
Reworking one's Worldview can be rewarding too!
And then there is the long sleep that comes sneaking in at the end...nothing matters anymore then...

manning5,

I do know what your drift is. But there is not a new generation of thinkers, alas.

A worldview has been presented to and rejected by the voters of these U.S.A. many times.

On the grounds that the U.S.of A. is "the world". Try to reworking that, buster...

Manning. My Mother-in-law is an East Texas farm girl born and raised. My father-in-law, aside from ranching, was a gun dealer specializing in the AR-15. To say they were conservative puts conservatives to shame. Now the point in all this is that when I had my stroke my mother-in-law, doing what all conservative farm girls do--moved in with us and took care of my daughter and my wife while I was in the hospital and then took care of me for 6 months while I was rehabbing.

Now to shorten this up a bit while Laverne was in E-Texas she listened to Rush Limbaugh and conservative radio and Fox News and Conservative news at night. To say she and my father-in-law were rabid conservatives is an understatement. Now all in total, Lavern was with us for about a year--minus weekends. Now at my house, we didn't listen to Fox News nor Rush Limbaugh nor any conservative programs for that matter. Now I mention this because over-time you could see Lavern change. The conservative accusations about Obama became less and less and before too long she had positive words to say about all of the Obama family--especially that he took care of his mother-in-law and she winked at me as she said she expected the same. And hey, so long as I can do it from my walker I will move the world for her.

Now, this is probably what is going to shock you Manning, and even though she says she didn't, I have a sneaking suspicion that she voted for Trump in his first term. But I know for certain that she didn't vote for Trump his second term because I spent too many hours on the phone with her listening to her complain about the latest thing that Trump did and between my wife and me, we certainly got an earful.

Now my point to this long-winded storytelling is when we have propaganda pounded into us 24/7 we tend to believe it and with more certainty--even though we may have done nothing to validate what we heard. Now I'm not trying to convert you but I just want you to understand is when we live in a partisan world that is divided with truth lying somewhere in between. Liberals and conservatives have been in this nation as long as we've had a nation. Do you think we would even be here if not for the first progressives?

But now, when you hear that liberalism and progressivism are the greatest evils ever to befall mankind, and you hear it 24/7 then not only do you believe it but you learn to fear it, and you fear for the future for your children and your grandchildren. The only thing I am trying to say is that maybe you don't need to fear it any more than the Evangelical Christians of 1776 needed to fear the words of Thomas Jefferson, Ben Franklin, and the early liberals that they hung around with. And it was certainly much bleaker than it is now so if we made it once, we certainly can make it again...

Yes. As a retired dentist & Army LTC & 74 years old, I feel very, very sad for our great country. I've followed politics since '64 & I believe our great Democratic Republic is done unless God intervenes. As a pro-life Christian conservative, I think I'll just pass on voting in future elections since our votes really don't count anymore. Anyone who is objective can see that this election was not legit but it is over. My prayer is that Biden will do what is right for America. We are supposed to be a nation of laws; therefore people should come here legally. Is that the law or not? Is raising taxes good for our country? Does anyone recall how America was doing just a few months before this " pandemic"? I'm about through with reading opinions on this forum, esp the many progressives. They are very misguided & have no clue the direction our country is going. But, as a follower of Christ, I know God is in control, He knows what's coming for us & I am not worried for me, just my 5 grandkids ages 9-24. May God soften the hearts of this new administration, may they change their ideas about killing innocent babies. To all conservatives on this forum & progressives too, put your faith in Christ,
not govt, trust God. Please look up Romans 8:28; my favorite scripture.

In reading your post, it was like deja vu. I can't tell you how many times I've heard the same story related and I do agree 100%. Then, to top it off, you end with your favorite scripture verse which is also my favorite. My prayer is that God will heal this Country and that we will turn to Him. We will be going through tough times ahead. I pray daily that justice will be done and that He will give us the power to discern good from evil.

Funny, I wrote a post "So now what?" not in this forum. It's in ProAmericaOnly.org with many ideas. Buckle up snowflakes a bumpy ride, no secession though. Patriots in every state.

Well now! I didn't know I had lost my sanity. As I inventory my mental state, I find my logical analysis capability unscathed, my memory in its usual state, my worldview unchanged, and my spiritual persona still set.
Then too, my political view is still strongly conservative, and I can enumerate the reasons why that is so. Your view of my sanity is false and insulting. It must be your sanity that is off the reservation...

Peter, I appreciate your post! I take your points to heart, they ring true. My grief is short-lived, and my outlook is turning positive now, for I want to participate in the changes we conservatives wish to pursue. My worldview is still strongly in place, and I shall persevere. Thanks.

About the influence of constant bombardment 24/7, doesn't that work exactly the same for leftists/liberals/socialists/democrats/etc, as it does for Republicans/conservatives/etc?

[quote=maryjane]About the influence of constant bombardment 24/7, doesn't that work exactly the same for leftists/liberals/socialists/democrats/etc, as it does for Republicans/conservatives/etc?[/quot

===========================
The short answer is No! A longer answer is that since there is a massive media group on the left, it drowns out the few rightist media outlets that manage to be heard somewhat. Thus most citizens hear the leftist commentaries perhaps 10 times or more as often as they do the rightist commentaries. The results are obvious, repetition of leftist memes bores smoke into the heads of the average citizen. The citizens believe the aphorism: "where there is smoke, there is fire!"
