Lol. I'll bet (no pun intended). I was probably one of them. It cost me a lot of money to acquire my education in gambling. I've hit several nice licks over the years but they (almost) always get you in the end.

One of a casino's favorites are those people who start winning right off the bat and think "now I'm playing with their(the casino's) money!"

They inevitably leave broke.

That is true of all table games. That is why when you win big, most casinos will comp your room the next time you go back - they want you to play as much/long as possible because they know they will eventually get their money back and then some.

You are right about roulette.. it offers the worst odds of all table games solely due to those two green numbers (0 and 00). Those two numbers alone shift the advantage to the house no matter what your bet is.

Seth is right about Craps offering the best odds of all table games. It is mostly luck but not purely luck (all table games require at least a bit of luck in order to win). It's obvious that Seth knows what he is talking about. You can win a lot of money at Craps in a short amount of time without risking your whole bankroll. Craps does indeed offer the best odds of all table games.

Blackjack is another game that one can win at if one knows how to play it properly (99% who play don't) and how to bet properly (99% who play don't). The Blackjack table is even more beatable if one is adept at the art of card counting (something Sam referred to earlier) but casinos frown on this practice. It is not illegal, but once a casino is convinced you are counting, you will be asked to leave and, most likely, never to return.

Seth is also right about poker. The house cares not who wins or loses as they make a "rake percentage" on every single hand played no matter who wins or loses, much like a (horse) race track makes money on every single race, no matter the winner.

Also, to keep rake profits up by keeping the tables in action, you'll often see a shill at a table, often an off-duty poker parlor employee and/ or they'll have a bad beat jackpot as an attraction to playing.

The best times I've had as a dealer are when I'm dealing blackjack and everyone is winning. Everyone's happy and having a good time. Making some good tips. Of course, that's about the time I got a tap on the shoulder and sent to the craps table.

LOL! Can't argue with that, but I will tell you a funny but true story.

A women once brought her 21st birthday daughter into the casino where I worked, the young lady's first casino visit, and she decided to play roulette.

She first came to Security's attention because she was rather well contoured, wearing tight pants and vending forward over the table -- one of my floor officers happened to be strolling by and beheld this, and said into his radio, "Code 10, Roulette 2" which meant "all male officers, find a reason to walk past Roulette 2."

That said, the young lady placed a five dollar chip on 17, and it hit. She said "let it ride." It actually hit again. When she said "let it ride" again, the pit boss had to lift her betting limit because this was now in the neighborhood of a $5k bet. He figured that it was impossible for the same number to come up a third time, so he took the bet.

17!

This was totally unbelievable, so when she asked to "let it ride" again, it was a cinch that the casino would get our money back.... 17! 🤪

4 times in a row!

After that last hit, the young lady left with a very big check from the casino, talk about the ultimate birthday present.
LOL! Can't argue with that, but I will tell you a ... (show quote)

That is OUTSTANDING!!! I believe it too. I once walked by a roulette table and on a whim, placed a $25 chip on 13. It hit. I didn't let it all ride though. I raked in those chips, gave $50 to the wheelman/dealer and put two $25 chips on 13. It hit again. I gave the "dealer" $100, placed four $25 chips on 13 and they said, "the table limit is $50" and pointed to the little sign that said as much (this was in Laughlin, not Vegas). I asked the wheelman to see if the pit boss would make an exception. Pit Boss said no. I said, "okay", shoveled my chips into my blazer pocket, walked to the cashier window and cashed my $1700 of chips. Then I went across the street, ate two lobster tails and continued gambling (and losing) at a real casino. If the first casino hadn't refused my $100 bet, I would've eaten at their restaurant and kept gambling in their casino and most likely, given them their $1700 back. That's called walking past dollars to pick up pennies.

Depending upon how much a card counter was betting and how many decks were in play, our pit bosses would occasionally get rid of them by quietly instructing the dealer to reshuffle every hand.

Howsomever, by then the surveillance departments in every casino in town would have their photos and general descriptions. We shared, and we supervisors also had a common radio channel for contacting our counterparts in other casinos.

That's exactly what I've heard. I love conversing with people who have a true knowledge of gambling.

One thing I hated about dealing was being a cooler. For those unfamiliar with the term, it's a blackjack dealer who's been nearly invincible over the past several days. I'll get tapped out and sent to another table to get the Casinos money back.

It's an interesting business to be in, especially in a position where you have a finger in every pie.

We had a female dealer like that on Swing Shift who was a one woman recovery business. To boot, she had these awesomely mesmeric eyes and a way of looking at a player that would keep them rooted at the table while she won back thousands of dollars.

On a few occasions, I've knocked out every cooler they sent to my table. That is FUN. Of course, on many more occasions, the cooler was very effective in cooling my ass off lol.

I'm sure. I once looked semi-seriously into becoming a blackjack dealer but cooled off to the idea after I found out you need to learn every other game too - including all the lame ones.

We had one like that too. A Philippino woman named Michelle. Drop dead gorgeous.
