Just look at the stats for young people. They live in the gig ecomony. They don't have steady jobs, because they can't get them. They have crushing student debt, and due to global warming, they are looking at a dicey future. if they don't have a skill, or a degree they have a Mc job. 51 percent of people 18 to 30 are living with their parents. This is good? This didn't happen when I joined the job market.

There are always more than one way to look at anything! If we ALLOW them to make excuses, it just keeps them from growing-up & facing adulthood!

Gig economy vs steady jobs: Maybe because they don't really want steady long-term jobs, they LIKE the flexibility of moving around. Not all, but many!

Crushing Student Debt: Why didn't they REALIZE that they were mortgaging their future BEFORE they did it?

Global Warming: Then why buy into it? If they REALLY think their future is that dicey, just gives them an excuse to slack-off!

No skill/No degree vs Mc JOB: Then learn a skill/or degree at night school instead of gripping!

Living w/parents: Consider themselves lucky & work or school yourself out of it instead of playing video games or spending all their time on social media!

College is not right for everybody. While it may be true that some people don't have the intellectual capacity for it, there are many who would benefit from a career in the trades. Plumbers and electricians often earn more money than those who have mortgaged their future for a college degree in a field with no demand for anyone with a degree in that particular field of study.

I told one of our local restaurants owners I appreciated the fact he was hiring some high schools kids and he said it was getting harder and harder to find any willing to work seems Mom and Dad were giving them everything they wanted !

I am forever grateful that my parents had chores to do for my sister and I and living on a farm there were always chores to do .

Recently, I was speaking with the owners of a local restaurant, one that was very successful prior to the virus/shut down. Like all restaurants, their profit margin is never huge, and throughout the shutdown, they struggled to survive by doing take outs, decreasing staff, and closing on Sundays and earlier on other evenings. They spoke about, since they were allowed to re-open in our state, having big trouble getting and keeping reliable help from the local college crowd, though those are the people they have always employed. Since my state re-opened, I have noticed several fast food type restaurants like KFC, Hardees, Bojangles, have hiring signs posted on their windows, and since the signs have been up for weeks I assume they haven't had reliable applicants. Makes me wonder about the citizens in my town that have been without jobs since the shutdown began, still are without jobs. Isn't any job that pays money better than no job when one has to put food on the table, pay the rent and water bills? Guess not.

You forgot they're getting paid unemployment by the state and the federal government has kicked in additional unemployment pay that makes worth more not to work.

You're spot on !
Talked to my local machinery dealer salesman and his daughter had a good job and like others was laid off then a few months later she was rehired .

She said Dad I can make more money being laid off that at her job well he said you do have a good paying job and this government check isn't going to last forever so her reply was yes I know and I'm glad I do have a job !

It's good to hear some of the younger generation still has a positive attitude about doing an honest day's work. It seems that too many seem to think you must be a fool for having a job.

Givers and takers.
Sheep and goats.
Blessed and cursed.
Narrow path and wide path.
You decide.
He judges!
