Raising hand!
Drinking out of a hose if there was one.
How about not drinking anything except at lunchtime.
How'd we survive without all that water we're supposed to have and...
made it to OLD?
Have a great day and STAY WELL!!!

Sounds like my childhood but mine also included eating a sandwich while feeding calves, and drinking out of the hose in between spraying my brother from that same hose. Not a matter of sanitation but of avoiding a pounding from my little brother

Yep, dandelion and red clover blossoms aren't bad either.

When I was little, my mom had a wooden butter paddle with a curve.
I think it was made to fit my little rear.
She always used that.
Ouch!

There were several things that were 'fitted' to my butt. straps, belts, bare hands, etc. I knew I was in for it when issued the order "go get a switch". Had to go out and cut or break a branch from a tree for use on the occasion. Weeping Willow switches were unsuitable as not stiff enough and were rejected so had to go get another. Must have been effective since I remember it for some 80 years.

I remember hearing "GO GET ME A SWITCH!!" and I also remember I'd best not bring in one not suitable for the job at hand.
My dad bought 100 baby chickens at the Co-op to raise and butcher for us and neighbors. An old man down the alley from us raised fighting roosters, and had one that wasn't suitable for that. He was going to kill the rooster but I said I wanted him so he gave him to me. I took him home and put him down with the 3 or 4 week old chicks and hell came to breakfast! He might not fight another rooster but he sure killed 4 or 5 of those chicks before my dad shot him with his .22 rifle. I didn't have to go get a switch that day, dad got one off the tree for me.
Funny what you remember from 60 years ago...

I remember hearing "GO GET ME A SWITCH!!"... (show quote)

I remember that "Go get me a switch, too." But most of the time, my mom used to keep a bunch of those switches on top of the refrigerator, ready for use. It served as a pretty good deterrent just seeing them up there. With nine kids, though, I guess you gotta do somethin' to keep everyone in line.
