A step closer to eliminating the electoral college.

==================
When popular votes decide and not the electoral, that's the same as eliminating the electoral votes. Those states with the highest voter population like New York, and California, Florida, and Texas could decide the winner. Small states with lower voters are disenfranchised. The LIBS want this. Most populated states are loaded with liberal democrats and illegals that LIBS require to vote also.

How? States have the right to determine how their electors should vote, including for the popular vote winner.

When it was put forth that expectation was always the state's popular vote was to determine the electoral college vote. It was expected but wasn't enforced by anything other the expectation. That is why a punishment was mentioned for rogue voters. Now since it has happened that the college went against the expectation the states are making sure the college follows what was expected.

The electoral college was established to prevent a few large states from running the country.

You really don't seem to understand the electoral collage, and how it works. The candidate who wins the majority votes wins the electoral votes of the state, nothing new there, so this thing Fox is reporting is a big nothing.

Sorry had to edit..

They are following the constitutional guidelines on an electoral vote and stopping the electorate from disregarding the winner of the state by making their own vote. They had already been to the supreme court over this and the Supreme Court ruled accordingly.

The electorate agrees to vote according to the winner chosen by the state before becoming an electorate voter..Those whom have side stepped it are subject to fines etc.

Here's the case snd that is what Colorado did in putting it before the people..

U.S. Supreme Court upholds Colorado’s right to remove “faithless electors” in consequential ruling
The “faithless electors” decision threatened to have major consequences in the upcoming election by reshaping the Electoral College

The U.S. Supreme Court on Monday agreed with Colorado’s argument that the state should be able to remove presidential electors who ignore the vote of the people in a closely watched ruling that threatened to have major consequences in the upcoming election by reshaping the Electoral College.

In a unanimous decision, the justices sided with Colorado Attorney General Phil Weiser’s argument that if the state doesn’t have the ability to remove presidential electors bribery and political chaos could ensue.

“Today we consider whether a State may also penalize an elector for breaking his pledge and voting for someone other than the presidential candidate who won his State’s popular vote. We hold that a State may do so,” Justice Elena Kagan wrote in delivering the opinion.

Kagan said that states can instruct their electors “that they have no ground for reversing the vote of millions of its citizens. That direction accords with the Constitution—as well as with the trust of a Nation that here, We the People rule.”

Justices Stephen Breyer, John Roberts, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Samuel Alito, Sonia Sotomayor and Brett Kavanaugh agreed with Kagan’s ruling, which included references to the television show “Veep” and the Broadway musical “Hamilton.”

Justices Clarence Thomas and Neil Gorsuch filed an opinion concurring with their colleagues mostly along the lines of state’s rights.

It's like that in many States, including mine. Some States assign electoral votes according to how many districts a candidate wins and, for all I know, some States use rock-paper-scissors.

Absolutely !
EC is outdated and isn’t being used for what it was started for.
