If it wasn’t having an effect you fragile snowflakes wouldn’t have your panties in a bunch over it, would you? This protest is working brilliantly, it has effectively forced football fans that normally don’t give racism a second thought to think about it. Their only option is to walk away from a sport they love. Think how much clowns like Rush Limbaugh must miss football, or more likely are forced to watch this dignified protest. Either way it is a win.
It has no effect on me, frankly, except to verify my thoughts about most professional sports people and their whining.I have thought about racism often in the 77 years I have lived here on earth. I have seen it, only not the way you may think-I applied to an all black college back in 1960-I graduated high school in 1961, and their response was that they were not at present enrolling any Caucasians-not by gender, just by color of skin. I have to say they were very polite about it, and it was OK-the school was in South Carolina, and as far as I know is no longer operating. At any rate, I just thought it was their right to do that-they did not ask me to apply, after all, I wanted to attend the school-I think they had some courses I was interested in, and it looked like a nice, smallish college-I wanted to avoid state universities, if I could.
I told that to a coworker of mine, who was bitching about not being promoted as fast as he thought he deserved-he was not that great at his job-and blamed that he was Black for that. It was nonsense-we both worked for the WI Dept of Revenue as Revenue Agents-tax collectors, basically-and he was barely making the minimum number of accounts completed, and that number was set low-as most standards for civil service are.
When I visited Baltimore when I was a kid-about 8 or so, I think, and I saw some water fountains that were marked White and Negro. I wondered how come I could not use the water fountain labelled for Blacks only. It never occurred to me that it was to discriminate against the Blacks. I always thought that was silly-how many really neat people, people who make you laugh, people who are good friends, who are simply nice do you keep yourself from meeting because you want to segregate blacks from whites, or reds, or yellows or browns? What a thought. I usually tried to at least strike up an acquaintance with them, because they were so interesting-different experiences, different backgrounds and ideas, and some knew more than just English! Great stuff. So, if the whiners and complainers and crybaby athletes had never knelt, had never used the disrespectful salute, had never stayed in the locker room during the anthem, I had already thought a lot about racism.
And now I have proof that these babies are over paid, under worked and think way more of themselves than their accomplishments, such as they are, show.
Generally speaking, they have not made one ounce of difference in anyone's life in a meaningful way-let them put some of the big bucks they have into building a school in the inner city, paying the cost of the education of some bright kid who cannot afford to go to college-but then, they would not recognize a bright kid, I guess. Not an athlete, someone who is quiet, smart and hard working-or perhaps they could sponsor a chair in an educational science or something, donate a science lab, sponsor a chair in a symphony-something worthwhile, that actually helps some one get a good start in life. By and large they do not. I know they set up foundations and trusts and stuff, but that is more for tax purposes than to actually help anyone. Of course, they are then touted as some kind of generous hero! Let them put 75% of their salary to that use-they still get huge amounts in endorsements and speaking and stuff-they would not even notice the loss. Sorry, they are the snowflakes-the disloyal to their fans while demanding that fans stick with them-HAH!
